| bp (36), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | July 29, 2008 This became my favorite spot to grab a brew while in Berlin. It is very close to Alexanderplatz and worth a stop if you are in the area. They only have four beers on tap at a time. My favorite of the four I had was the Pils. Nice outdoor seating in the back, only problem is the noise from the occasional train overhead (it is under commuter rail tracks). The food is very good. We had pretzels, the spatzle and a sausage plate. Service was good for Berlin (overall my experience with service in the city was mixed) | | KnutAlbert (123), Oslo, Norway | | June 27, 2008 Freindly, airy place with outdoor seating at the back. Good beers, both the regulars and the seasonal.
Fine sample tray.
Lunchtime buffet looked tempting. | | lassem (10), Copenhagen, Denmark | | June 16, 2008 The place is situated under the railway/u-bahn which is both cool but also a bit noisy. The selection of beers range to 5 or 6 so you can easily get through them all :-) If you not have alot of time go for the samples in 10cl glasses. The beer is good, not very experimental, but allright. The darker it gets - the better it gets. Allways worth a visit...i´ve been there three times and will for sure go there again. Good atmosphere. | | gnoff (80), Göteborg, Sweden | | June 11, 2008 Visited on June 5, 2008. In ’GBG Germany’ listed as pub number 8 under Mitte, page 446. Located in one of the arc’s below the S-Bahn. Looks almost the same inside as Mitte which we visited just before interior design, menus, sample trey is the same. Beer is better here though. Also feels cozier, though the frequent S-Bahns above was quite disturbing. Nice and clean toilets, even for Germany’s high standards. Service was OK, selcetion rather limited to their own brews. Did not eat. The sample trey is nice looking and a very good idea. | | ekstedt (39), Göteborg, Sweden | | June 8, 2008 Very nice brewpub in an arc below the S-bahn, which is a bit disturbing when the train passes evry third minute. There is backyard outside which is very nice. They have four homebrews on tap and you may buy a sample tray with 0.1 liters samples from each brew. | wayfarer (1), Stockholm, Sweden does not count | | May 10, 2008 They had 4 beers in their selection when I was there, Orginal, Pilsner, Weizen and Maibock. They where of quite even quality, nothing stellar but all quite good. The place is pretty big and swallows a lot of people, but it was quite calm there despite it being friday night. Which resulted in quick service. The english skills among the employees where not that great. Also one could expect them to be able to answer some basic questions about the brewery, but no that didn’t work. The S-bahn is a bit disturbing but not overly so. They also kept the musik at a very reasonable volume. Also, the google map points wrong, the place is located closer to the hackescher market than alexander plats on the street. | andrewboss (5), does not count | | April 17, 2008 They brew their own beer and it’s fantastic. I suggest starting with the beer taster (you get to try the four beers they brew) before choosing your favorite. The food is great as well. I suggest selecting a dish that gives you three different wursts in one serving. Very good stuff. | | Hunsell (42), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | April 9, 2008 We had a good experience here. It took a while before we had a good seat, but when we were sitting, we were enjoying some good beers and food to go with it. Nice atmosphere (especially the fact you can hear the S-Bahn above you), essential in Berlin. | | Emil (52), Copenhagen, Denmark | | October 31, 2007 The place was packed, so I got a plase in the bar, ok with me, plenty of room to eat, and the food was good, I had 4 full servings of the 4 beers they had on tap that day, and they were all good beers.
I go back next time I´m in Berlin in hope there is some special beers on tap. | | detroitsteel (23), , England | | June 16, 2007 Big, modern brew pub under the S-Bahn between Hackescher Markt and Alex. Platz. Friendly staff, my modest german was enough to get me a beer, but inevertably the barman broke into english to tell me about the food. Is my ignorance that obvious?! Gets a good rep for their beer. I had the Hefe Hell and the Original, both were ok. I hindsight I should have tried the seasonal Stout that was on, but drinking a beer descibed as ’English Stout’ in Berlin seemed a bit redundant to me. I was offered the all day brunch for 6 euros - a massive all you can eat buffet that the german patrons were tucking into. I didn’t go for it but it looked good value. All in all you’ll probably come here anyway ’cause its one of the stops on the Berlin beer trail. Its a decent place to linger. A word of caution: It was closed for a private function one of the days I was in town, don’t know how offen that happens, but bare it in mind. Oh, and they have a patio out the back. | View Page : 1 2 3
