July 30, 2009 Of all the classic brewpubs in Dusseldorf, probably my least favourite, but in any other city it would be considered a real gem. It is unfair to mark this one beer pub down on beer selection when the one choice is so fresh and within a very short walk there are so many other excellent bars. |

June 28, 2009 Very nice and traditional alt-beer place. We came late but had a nice seating/stand) next to the bar. The altbiers were served traditionally from the barrels and the way they were poured were impressive... these guys have tried it before. The altbier from Schlüssel was the best we had around town. nice crispy and easy drinkable. You pay when you leave by the number of lines at the table. The food is nice and simple. Here its the beer and the conversation that are in focus. Its cheep and worth it all.
The selection is tricky to rate - cause they only had this one - Schüssel alt. But that is the point - love it or find another place. (Sometimes they have a few I guess) |

March 31, 2009 A nice, quite large and very crowded place. Decent food and beautiful session beers (I had the Alt and the Stike). Only negative facet is the unfriendly staff. |

January 14, 2009 Visited in late December of 2008. Only got there for one altbier, didn’t try eating. Fast enough service, here did almost served me one more beer after the first before I had time to say no. |

December 24, 2008 No idea why this gets such high ratings. The staff was very unfriendly. This place looks typical German but not in the cosy way that lots of pubs do in Germany. Lots of bright light for example. They only have 1 beer on tap that you can get bottled anywhere in the region and doesnt taste that much different from tap. The menu was boring, some traditional German plates but nothing really interesting. And nothing for vegetarians. Didnt have any myself but the food looked ok on the other tables. And dear staff, yes its a brewery but kids dont drink beer! so ordering a hot chocolate thats on the menu card isnt that strange isnt it? |

September 21, 2008 Visited Sept. 2007.
Their malty, sweeter version of the alt is delicious. I think it was the only beer there, but that’s why you’re here. Packed on a Friday night, we stood at a table outside and had to wait a long time for beers. Go in the afternoon! A must stop.

June 23, 2008 I visited the brewpub in the summer and there was a great ambiente. The whole street was fullfilled with customers and the whole restaurant impressed me very much. Very kind people - the Düsseldorfer are very open to foreigners. The beer was great and I felt no headache the next day. |

May 29, 2008 Clean and well lit brewpub in the heart of the Altstadt, but less authentic than Uerige or Füchschen - a bit more bourgeois..... Their Alt is worth a detour, but quite mediocre compared to Uerige or Schumacher ! |
