Large building set in the center of a block of other buildings. High ceilinged wooden rooms inside with a medium sized courtyard in the middle, stuffed with tables and umbrellas, but painted and designed very nicely. Beer is, of course, only a 3-4 selections from Augustiner, and their helles was especially disappointing, but I still enjoyed the asparagus soup and of course the look and feel of the place.

I was there (on Friday around 11p.m.) five minutes at most because it was absolutely imposible to find a place to sit and order a beer. Crowded and noisy place.

nice food... pretty drunk by the time I got there so what I think was nothing more than average beer went down fantastically. Service was good and the people were friendly and lively in attendance.

The food here was quite possibly the best I had during my time in Munich - the beer gravy was amazing. The Augistiner beer is of course good, but they did run out of Dunkel for a few days. Food arrived quickly, but the service was otherwise variable. Unfortunately most times I visited it was full of very noisy football supporters in the evening, so it definitely wasn’t ’Low key and conducive to conversation’. Would definitely go back again though.

Went here on my last night in Munich. Like someone else has already mentioned it’s split into two halves with food one side, the left side as you view from front of building and food on right. I ate here and had some Bavarian meat fest’ like most other meals I’d had whilst in Munich the portions were quite large and well mostly meat, the Serbian waiter who served us was very funny but for the second time on this trip he’d deceided to add his tip onto the bill and made no bones about doing so. The beer was very good and the atmosphere great as well, easy to find and good for combining food and drink. There is also the Augistiner Keller which is well worth seeking out, maybe 15-20 mins walk from the centre on the tram 16-17 line more drink orientated than food but well worth going for to go to the excellent vaulted cellar bar.

Great quintessential Bavarian beer hall. Good fresh beer, great food in an amazing cozy atmosphere. Fairly quiet, large, and spacious. Great place to kill some time and quaff some brew.

A quieter beer hall than Hofbrauhaus. This one seems to cater more to the locals. The atmosphere is rustic Bavarian, with the odd set of horns on the walls. Didn’t try the food, except the pretzels, but the major German beer styles are all represented. Had a nice weisse beer for breakfast. Make this a stop on your tour.

Augustiner Grossgaststätte, mentioned both in "The Beer Drinker’s Guide To Munich (Fifth Edition)" and in "Good Beer Guide Germany". Found it easy enough walking down from the haubtbahnhof and had my first beer in the center of Munich of my travel. Didn’t try eating and left after only two beers when I got a crazy lady next to me, but had I had more time I would have returned later during my week. Rather nice and seemed popular and crowded.

On the main drag in Munich. Excellent service and a great atmosphere followed by a good standard of beer. The food was great, I even ate the liver ball. Had a fantastic time here and in Munich. Oh yeah the roof started to leak over some tourists but didn’t bother me on the other side of the room. Check out the brewery also just a little walk out of town, pretty much the same but cheaper!

Right in the middle of Munich, so there were loads of people around... maybe taking away the ambiance a little. The beers were all pretty good and not too pricy, food was decent (had the white sausage). Service was slow, but they were very busy. Good fun, but nothing fantastic.
