RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
A little walk along Tooley Street away from Southwark, but this is the only Adnams pub in London and is the nearest pub to Tower Bridge, just across the river from the Tower of London. Great location, but not a great pub. Come here if you want to experience Adnams beers.

| lada66 (25), Savonlinna, Finland | | September 11, 2008 Four Adnams Ales on tap and that´s all ( I mean real ales ). Nothing special. Next time I think I´ll pass this place (3.8.2008). | | GuideDogSaint (10), Epsom, England | | January 18, 2008 Very nice place. Tally Ho was lovely last night, as well as the Adnams they also had Meantime Pale Ale and Helles. Food good too, only a fiver for a large sausage baguette with chips. Excellent. | | bhensonb (244), Woodland, California | | July 10, 2007 A reliable place to find Adnams. A great stop before returning over the bridge. Staff was responsive. Go, if you are anywhere near it. | | detroitsteel (23), , England | | April 23, 2007 There seems to be a bias towards sticky-carpeted boozers in the reviews of London pubs. The Bridge House has been fairly panned here, but I think it’s a lot better than the reviews it’s received. Sure, it has its faults: the selection is limited to Adnams cask ales, no guest beer; the decor is a bit bare-pine-trendy and the place has pretensions of being a bar, not a pub. But it also has several strengths, the first being that you can sample all the Adnams cask ales in excellent condition, and this being an Adnams owned house they always have the seasonal on tap. The staff have always been friendly to me and know their beer, advising on the rotation of the seasonals, what’s coming on when. They also have Bitburger Pils on tap (which despite being no great shakes is not at all common in London) and Licher Weizen on tap (a new beer to me). I haven’t eaten here, but the food looked good, big burgers, proper portions. The bar is airy and relaxed during the day, but it does get a little ’suity’ in the week day evenings. All in all it’s worth coming if you’re in the area, doing the Southwark beer traill to sample the Adnams and get a draught Weizen, and not a bad place to have a few pints in the evening | | KnutAlbert (129), Oslo, Norway | | January 26, 2007 Chilly atmosphere, the Adnams beers are the only reason to go there. A bit strange that Adnams should go for this type of style, it is in great contrast to their other marketing. do not go out of your way for this, as there are a number of fine pubs in the area. | | fiulijn (180), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy | | December 11, 2005 A cold place, and dark. Unfriendly staff. And i don’t like Adnams... | | chris_o (109), London, England | | December 10, 2005 [ Updated June 24, 2006 ] This is the only Adnams house in London and, although the regular Adnams beers are very widely available in the free trade and as guest beers, you’d expect them to be in better condition here. Plus its the only place that you can be sure of getting the Adnams seasonal beers and occasional specials. And that’s really the only reason to visit unless you’ve been to have a look at Tower Bridge. It has a modern "trendy" feel to it and is virtually devoid of atmosphere and comfort. Its never been very crowded when I’ve visited. Consequently, service has always been speedy and attentive. Not sure whether trendy bars are better full or empty. | | Joeh (49), , England | | December 10, 2004 [ Updated April 17, 2006 ] A smart, modern ’trendy’ bar just on the south of Tower Bridge. The bar users are all drinking lager and wine, and the prices are pricey but they have four Adnams beers on cask (including seasonals). | | SilkTork (55), Rochester, England | | August 13, 2004 Very trendy modern interior - very light, with the industrial warehouse chic popular in the area. Walk down the stairs at the back into the lane behind for The Anchor Tap - a much more interesting pub (shame it doesn’t do cask ales!) |
