| Immy (88), Virginia Beach, Virginia | | June 19, 2009 This place has a very Gordon Biersch decor and feel. The menu is OK, and they do half price appetizers 2:30-5. Pizza was pretty good, chicken nachos kinda sucked. Excellent tap selection, with good local representation. Went here several times, and service ranged from crap to excellent. A must if in Waikiki. | | Marinesuds (13), Hawaii | | February 22, 2009 Good selection, especially for Hawaii. Wait staff was friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable about the beers they were serving. Menu of beers doesn’t seem to change. Would like to see some variety. | | jeremytoni (53), Swedesboro, New Jersey | | October 30, 2008 With over 130 taps you are bound to find something new. Local hawaiian beers that are hard to find elsewhere, and pretty good service. | | elihapa (62), Honolulu, California | | June 11, 2008 I was really looking forward to the opening of this place in Honolulu. However, the relentless crowds, high prices, and the rather mundane beer selection (despite having 150 on tap!) made this disappointing. I probably won’t go back unless they get something more special on tap. Food is quite tasty though. | castironchef (8), Pearl City, Hawaii does not count - explanation | | April 23, 2008 Good selection, but I suspect some less-popular brews have been sitting around for a long time. Had a Rogue Dead Guy Ale that tasted like Bud Light. Terrible! Also, they could carry more quality microbrews I thought I would find all these beers I’ve never tried before, but was disappointed with their ho-hum selection. Took a while to get a drink, and then no table (or even bar seat) to relax at. Would drink there if I’m passing through, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back there again. | | chicagodri (36), Chicago, Illinois | | February 2, 2008 Was glad to find this place while I was on vacation. This place is huge, but still tended to have a little bit of a wait at night in order to get a table (lots of shopping around though). Very good food and good service. I wish the beer menu had more micros and less beer from the macros, but what can you do. You still have a lot of beer to choose from. Now I know they have one near Chicago :) | | BrewDad (239), Olympia, Washington | | January 20, 2008 [ Updated September 11, 2008 ] The Yard House was the first place I stopped at on my tour of the Oahu Beer scene. The Great 2008 Hawaii Beer trip has started. Had a great time the place was packed and the service was awesome and knowledgeable. We had some great times and we will be back. They had beers, food and atmosphere. The beers where served cold the glasses where not chilled that was a fall back. They need to work on that. We will go back and sample others we have or will never see in the mainland.
If you have kids you can take them in and sit at the tables/booths and have a few. This is important for those of us with kids to know.
| | walleye (28), Sterling Heights, Michigan | | January 14, 2008 [ Updated September 5, 2009 ] I thought it might be good to put my 2 cents worth in. I was there last feb. to meet alohaC for a trade. the place is large with a lot of seating and while I waited for Christian I walked around the massive bar they do have a few beers on tap nothing jumped out at me that I wanted to try except some locals. A lot of people were hanging around the bar most were drinking beer with fruit in it.The place is loud. I was lucky to get a booth away from the bar so Christian and could talk. the wife and I went back a couple nights later for dinner Don’t remember what we had but the food was good. A place to check out if you have never been to Yard house before | | wetherel (80), Encinitas, California | | January 1, 2008 Visited on vacation. They have 100 beers on tap. I’ve heard the stateside locations have up to 250 beers on tap. I ordered the sampler platter, which isn’t that good. 6 beers for $9. I took ratings on the beers, but on two pieces of paper: 1with ratings, 1 with beer listing. Lost the beer listing. Oh well. Who needs to add 6 beers with rating of 2.6. Some beers they had that looked good: Rogue Shakespear Stout, Pipeline porter, Grimbergen Double, Dry hop red, Spaten Optimizer. | lesinge (1), does not count - explanation | | September 8, 2007 Went on a Friday night around 10. The music was very loud, my friends and I were yelling the whole time to hear each other.
There was plenty of beer, a lot of stuff you can get most other places, but also some really good beers I hadn’t ever heard of or tried.
I was very disappointed when I ordered a $22 Top Sirloin and there was A1 sauce on it when they brought it to me. (Even if i did like A1, a steak should never have anything on it that isn’t noted on the menu.)
Over all, I would go back during the day probably to try some more beer and have a quieter atmosphere. |
