13 reviews for Armanetti Wine Shoppe and Beverage Mart
| mattmc1973 (10), Sterling Heights, Michigan | | July 12, 2009 Stopped in here after leaving West Lakeview and didn’t find what I was looking for there. Was pleasantly surprised to stumble on this place, whose selection was actually better than WLV!! I’ll be back. | | NobleSquirrel (55), Chicago, Illinois | | June 30, 2009 Pretty nice shop on the northside that gets in some goodies. Prices aren’t nothing too amazing, but they do tend to have a lot of fresh stuff. I prefer to go down the street to WLV, but Armanetti’s does carry Flossmoor stuff. One of my standard go toos. | | marchcow (36), Coralville, Iowa | | May 18, 2009 Stopped by here on a recent trip to Chicago. Had a very nice selection of domestics and staff was friendly and helpful. I agree that Steve was helpful and helped me carry my beer to the car. Definitely worth a stop. Nice neighborhood too. | | downender (116), Bristol, England | | March 21, 2009 Visted after having been to West Lakeview Liquors. Would echo comments that selection is nearly as wide as at WLV, and on the day had a lot more Three Floyds on offer, especially the six packs. Two decent shops in one neighbourhood is rare. Staff were friendly too. | | JJSuds (12), Illinois | | August 22, 2008 [ Updated September 7, 2008 ] Surprising great craft beer selection for this neighborhood. Yoo-hoo! | | GeneralGao (220), Iowa City, Iowa | | August 8, 2008 Popped in here on my way to West Lake View Liquors to look for some Flossmoor as they carry their bottles. I was pleasantly surprised. Their selection was nearly as good as West Lake View, and actually a bit better as far as domestic micros go. I picked up a few bottles of Founder’s Deca, for example. Steve was very friendly and helpful. If you’re going to West Lake View you should stop here as well. | | Walt (185), Chicago, Illinois | | April 15, 2008 Another wonderful shop!!! The owner and beer manager were there when I stopped by...great selection of awesome beers!!! Very knowledgeable and friendly! While, they didn’t have anything rare when I was there, they did have everything that I wanted. Another must stop at shop. | Garm (2), does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2008 I found myself by Armanetti’s and had heard a lot about it and decided to try out their craft beer selection. They had a wide variety of your staple beers, but then they had beers that I had not seen in any other store in the Chicago area. I walked in wanting to get one or two beers and wound up walking out with 5 simply because I knew I wasn’t going to get them anywhere else. I see myself going there in the future for most craft beer purchases. | beernightscout (2), Chicago, Illinois does not count - explanation | | March 29, 2008 [ Updated August 29, 2009 ] A joy of a family-owned store, in a great North Side hood. Huge craft beer selection, often different than what’s at West Lakeview. Ask about the 4% disocunt card. Cool vibe: If you want a macro, you have to walk past ALL the micros and imports on the shelves, past the coolers of bigger name micros, to find the the cases they have in the corner cooler. That’s awesome. This is the place to go for AMERICAN micros, their stock rivals Binny’s and blows away West Lakeview. Weaker on imports, but they have plenty to keep you happy, from Black Albert to all the great Belgians. And you can usually find a great deal, like Point Maibock 12-packs for $8 all this past summer, to Red Hook coffee beer for $2 a bomber. Become a regular and they’ll save rare releases for you (like KBS). So check it out, then walk down the street to Paulina Meat Market half a block away and spend the rest of your paycheck on the sausages. | jeffp0908 (1), Chicago, Illinois does not count - explanation | | March 23, 2008 The reviews here seem a little dated as the beer selection has taken a very positive turn as of late. Shelf space for beer has been recently doubled with a new emphasis on American Micros. I have been working my way through the reccomendations and have yet to be disappointed. Prices are reasonable (in line with the big boys) and the selection is comparable. Best of all if you find something you like they will whip out the beer distributor catalog and have it in the store for you in a week. Kudos to the new ownership! Great selection, decent prices with a neighborhood feel. |
