Very strange experience. You walk in and suddenly feel as though you are walking into a Quentin Tarantino set. Dark, dank, musky, and weird. The sticky beer menu revealed a few gems like Raspberry Tart but at an insanely high price. An interesting stop for the experience and possible diseases you can catch. Not horrible, I just wish the selection of beer was a little better.

Visited 4/28/08. Moday evening with Dolla American Cans. Dark dank and wonderful. Punk bar. Good music and all local folk. GI Honkers was the house draft. Shady, but a lot of gems. Good selection of scotch and other booze. We did find a Fantome ’98 in the case, along with DeDolle Mad Bitch. Fun with a dive bar feel. On of my Chicago-ite buddies favorite beer bar.

This place was pretty dark and had kind of like a hole in the wall sort of feel. Tap selection was pretty limited with maybe a handful of locals and other decent craft beer. There were some bottle highlights like NG Raspberry Tart, but it was $30 / 750ml which is over a 3X markup... Not a bad place to hang out if you lived nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of the way to stop by if coming from out of town on a beer trip.

Apparently don’t come here if they dont have an event going on. Ambiance was cool with punk music playing and very dark and dimly lit but the selection was just weak. Nothing on tap I wanted and bottles were the same except the $40+ belgians they had. I would never go back and only because the place was so small as was the selection.

Dark and old looking place, a punk rocker place. Was there for the X-mas beer tasting. OVER crowded. Very smokey, average age was like 40.. Rude guests. did not want to move for crap! Good selection in the fridge. I would pass on this place.

I had high hopes for this place in terms of beer selection. They were out of the first 7 beers I tries to order, then was told that I shouldn’t get drafts since the cooler had broken a few days ago, and the beer was probally warm. I’m okay with the bikers/slightly rougher crowd, but come on, don’t be a beer/wiskey bar with no beer. I’ll try again, but I’m skeptical, I question the how they treat people that are not covered in tattoos or peirced also. My girlfreind are just regular young people who love beer, and I felt uncomfortable, and a generally not wanted. Bad way to run a place that I would frequent and spend money at.

I’ve been to a few of their tastings here lambic and vintage strong. They do a fine job of having some different vintages of strong ales and an excellent job of having lambics from all over with many vintages. They have a few taps, and seem to cater to whiskey drinkers but carry some good beers for the beer geek as well. It can however be really smoky, with most of the bartenders smoking as they pour your beer. And they have heat lamped peanut machines where you get a few peanuts for 50 cents. When you’re hungy and need to cleanse your palate you have little other choice. A decent bar though.

Not just beer this bar has it all, you name it and they will have it. I have yet to have a really good bar tender but I’ve done some work with the owner and he is the mastermind for the selection. I like this bar but its a total punk bar complete with way to loud music and sticky serfaces. A good place to exparement but don’t order a mixed drink, it has to be at least a dubble before you taste anything. Overall I would say check the place out it may be more of your thing then mine.

My favorite bar in Chicago and I went to most of the good ones. My buddy really enjoyed their world-class scotch selection and I was able to enjoy several tasty brews. I was impressed with their lambic selection in particular. Several from Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen. I was also able to score a Fantome Hiver 1998, which was excellent, for only $ 15.00. This place rocks.

went to their lambic tasting a few years back and was impressed by a number of things. Bars upstairs and down. Knowledgable tenders (when I went to a Belgian beer tasting at Kendall college, most of the servers were from Delilah’s). I am not sure how I got on their mailing list cause I sure did not sign anything but I get a monthly events card, good or bad. Crowd is diverse ( a friend said "goth/bondage" was big one night they went), whatever, its a bar in a big city, deal with it. NOTE; whomever wrote the RB tour guides "bad news" section, WTF? What bar, restaurant, club you going to that is not crowded, drunk, and every woman gets oggled at, cause the one you want is in "Amish",OH.
