| Cornfield (135), Oak Forest, Illinois | | May 12, 2007 Small but quality selection of beers. Mark pretty well covered what they handle. It’s worth dropping by if you’re in the area and need some good beers. But beware of the owner. He’s a movie buff, and he & I ended up talking for over an hour about old flicks and movie stars. Don’t go out of your way, but do stop in if in the area. | Duster72 (3), Indianapolis, Indiana does not count | | April 29, 2007 Very friendly people but unfortunately they had removed most of their beer aisle to accomodate a wine tasting and the beer guy was already at Dark Lord Day where I was heading next. Hard to judge selection, but I did find several bombers that were sold out elsewhere, which is a mixed blessing considering age of product. Hard to give a fair rating, but not a bad place at all. | | Drnk_McDermott (68), Downers Grove, Illinois | | January 26, 2007 Gotta love the dichotomy of a "family" liqour store. But seriously, this is a nice little place just a few doors down from Coldstone Creamery on Homewood’s "south side." Just two aisles, but a corner with a well chosen selection of beers not found elsewhere in this area. Off the top of my head, I find Floyds, Lagunitias, Rogue, Dogfish Head, Abita, SKA, Ommegang, Spaten, Rochfort and other Belgians. Prices for the bombers run about 50 cents less than other liquor stores. They advertise wine tastings on Friday, with beer tasting the last Friday of the month, but I haven’t encountered them. My closest source for some good bottled beers, many of which I haven’t tried yet. |
