Dr_Zeppelin (6), , does not count - explanation | | December 18, 2009 Best place in Dublin to enjoy local quality brews. Frindly service. Selection is very good for Dublin. Definately the place to visit if you’re in Dublin, but go for the local stuff. | | jbrus (110), Delft, Netherlands | | October 20, 2009 Best place I’ve been in Dublin. Cosy, busy - even on a friday afternoon - and friendly. The staff was friendly but not very knowledgable. Good selection, mainly German, English and (micro) Irish. Offered bottles for take away prices. | grefwen (2), Jämjö, Sweden does not count - explanation | | September 28, 2009 I was there on a slow night, and yet the service wasn’t very fast. This isn’t such a big deal though. I liked the place anyway. It has a big beerhall upstairs with plenty of seats. It’s easy to like this place... | | kseecs16 (145), Naperville, Illinois | | September 21, 2009 Good variery of interbational and Irish craft brew right across from Christ Church Cathedral. Decent prices for Dublin and a big comfortable bar. Beer hall upstairs, open evenings, is a nice high ceilinged room with big tables, a nice larfg darkwood bar and a view into their beer storage room. Nothing amazingly interesting or rare beerwise besides some locals but a great place and nice varied selection. | | Braudog (478), Dayton, Ohio | | September 19, 2009 September 2009 - Cavernous and dark, we went here on a tip for dinner. The waitress was an idiot who didn’t know anything about beer and after I asked too many questions about some of the beers, they gave us a different one. The heary Irish food was delicious and the beers were fresh and unique. Definitely worth a visit at its easy-to-find location across from Christ Church. | | mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | August 21, 2009 Visited on a busy Friday night in May, then again a week later on a Ridiculously busy Heineken-cup-for-local-team-vs-England-rep football night, and the locals won. The first time we enjoyed some beer in the upstairs brew hall, packed tight with long benches and tables. The second we ate at the swankier restaurant downstairs, enjoying a tasty Beef and Guinness pie and an 8oz steak. Lots of new beers awaited us, there was a great selection of local and not-so-local brews, most of it in good condition. Service was good. | | jerc (143), Toronto, Ontario | | May 26, 2009 Dinner was pretty good. We had to wait for a table - it was jammed with people watching the ERC (Come on Leinster! ) My burger was very good after I halfed the amount of onion on it. Mabel’s beef stew with puff pastry on top was lovely even if they insist on calling it a "pie". (sorry, personal pet peeve - pies have a crust all round them imho, or at least underneath) I like the restaurant area a bit more than the upstairs beer hall area as it is cozier and has more character. First visit the barman upstairs was friendly, second visit the barmen were kinda dicks (to be fair they were busy with the crowd), wait staff was friendly but not super with it in terms of knowing the beer selection. Selection has a good range, but ordering things that were no longer in stock got frustrating. If you no longer carry a brew, maybe consider taking the huge sign over the bar saying that its on special down? Maybe? lol. Overall I enjoyed it, and probably would return | Bransmark (7), Århus C, Denmark does not count - explanation | | April 10, 2009 One of the few good beer places in Dublin. Have some different Irish micros on tab and bottle.
Service is alright but nothing special.
Have a good international selection, but with emphasis on variaty rather than quality. | | KnutAlbert (150), Oslo, Norway | | April 18, 2008 Fine selection, with IRish micros on draft and in bottles plus a good range of imports. This will be my first stop on my next visit to Dublin.
The beer cellar is actually on the first floor, look in both bars, as they may have different micros available. | | larsga (108), Oslo, Norway | | March 25, 2008 Nice place done out kind of like a German beer hall, though with a lot of Irish pub thrown in, with dining tables on the ground floor and a pretty bare room upstairs for drinkers. Service was great, even on St. Patrick’s Day when the place was packed to bursting. Food was good for Ireland. Selection includes Irish micros and imports. Note that they have more beers upstairs than in the restaurant. Overall one of the best places in Dublin. |
