| 502Flavors (23), Louisville, Kentucky | | July 9, 2008 descent selection - mostly English ales - that usually includes one cask beer. The Pub is the only tolerable bar in the god-awful, douche-infested 4th street LIVE! Although it has its tacky qualities, it generally offers a pretty nice atmosphere and descent prices. Service can be slow though. This place is worth a stop, and is the best bar in downtown Louisville IMO. | | Tmoney99 (209), Cincinnati, Ohio | | May 14, 2008 Located downtown directly in Fourth Street Live. Very nice central location of rectangular bar of wood and booths and tables around outside. Good selection of brews with two cask draws. Service was good with reasonable beer knowledge. Good Pub food menu and the Fish & Chips were good. Nice location if you are downtown. Another good brewpub two blocks south. | Cush (8), does not count | | January 9, 2008 Located in the heart of the 4th street live downtown bar district. Can be good crowds on nice days and typical busy nights. Cask beer was marginal at best and their attempt at selection (beer menu) was nice, but they weren’t able to keep much in stock the few times I visited. Nice large fancy bar, Only food I have had were the chicken wings, rather tasty. Very pricey because of location. Kinda fun to sit near the window and watch the unique crowd that gathers in this area, especially on outdoor concert nights. | | allfreej (45), Louisville, Kentucky | | December 9, 2007 Visited for lunch. Cask selection wasn’t available due to a refrigeration problem. Selection was fair, UK-dominated as expected. I had a pint of a local offering, BBC’s Bourbon Barrel. I’d last had it at Rustico’s in Alexandria, Virginia, and it was as good as I’d remembered. The food was British-style pub fare, with burgers and chicken sandwiches as well. I had the fish and chips, which were good, though a little pricy. Service was great at the bar, can’t speak for the tables. It was nice that it was non-smoking. I’d visit again. Disagree with the Scene description as an authentic British pub. It’s a bit packaged and is closer to an American bar than an English pub. |
