RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Sits at an unassuming location 7 or so miles north of the city. This place is a real gem and a must stop in anyone’s beer hunting adventures in Baltimore. The Belgian selection is the real story here. An entire aisle is dedicated to imported beers, one side is all Belgians while the other is primarily German. Another aisle is half American micros and half English imports. On my last visit I bought 4 different Fantomes, 2 bottles of Boon Mariage Parfait Gueuze (1995 bottles!) and many other hard to find gems. An Excellent beer store.

KnN (9), Greenbelt, Maryland does not count | | March 1, 2008 [ Updated August 24, 2008 ] Great liquor store. Wish it was just a bit closer. The only complaint I had at all was that when I went to a different beer store later that day, I found many of the same beers for about 1 to 2 dollars less per bottle. The prices seemed just a bit high, but the selection was magnificent. | Skeegle (3), does not count | | January 1, 2008 Best selection in MD that I’ve seen. The prices are high on a good number of beers, but only because they know they are the only store in MD to carry the beer. They hire kids fresh out of school so the service is sometimes iffy, but you can usually catch a guy who knows something about beer. Chances are you know more than he does though, so why even bother asking anyone anyway though? The Belgians and German selection is amazing. Literally hundreds upon hundreds of them, and many fine Lambics to choose from, almost as if they specialize in all Lambics. | | beachbum25 (35), Powellville, Maryland | | December 29, 2007 Place kind of looked like a hole in the wall. Good selection, particularly Belgians & Imports. Singles were a little light. Best place in this area I’ve seen. Staff was very helpful. Can easily find plenty of good beer here. | | gpekar (10), Sykesville, Md, Alabama | | December 11, 2007 I grew up about 10 minutes from this many moons ago. It was always considered a great place for wine back then. I was recently in the area and stopped in to check it out after reading about it on RB. I picked up a few bomber bottles to try out and several 6 packs of things I liked and a Southern Tier variety pack. The selection was pretty good. I had no trouble find beer that I wanted to try that have been rated pretty highly on RB. The staff was pretty friendly. I had several people ask me if I needed help or was able to find everything I was looking for. They even took my purchases out to my car. I’ll be stopping back next time I’m in the area. | | Nuffield (69), Roseville, Minnesota | | August 21, 2007 Great place. Wonderful selection, definitely the place to visit. Nice staff, but they aren’t trying to help, unless you’re buying wine it seems to me. The lack of singles for American beers is frustrating. There were some very nice bombers but not enough of them--the selection could be deeper here. It’s great with the Belgians (though much of the Belgian line seems to be available nationally, at least other places like Minnesota, where I’m from). I thought the real treat here was some particularly interesting German beers, actually. | Patreek (1), Silver Spring, Maryland does not count | | June 15, 2007 Snowgoose and Snowballs chance now being liquidated at 12.00 a case.
Really pissed that they do not have an Email list or website page to let me know when they get new product.
Otter creek ESB is gone, was 16.00 a case.
Speculating that they can’t advertise beer that may be past expiration date. | kramer (7), sunbury, Pennsylvania does not count | | June 8, 2007 A very nice place indeed. A good to great selection of pretty much every category: Belgains, English, Germans, East Coast Micros. Prices were reasonable to maybe a little high, but given the selection it was acceptable. Not quite up there with State Line Liquors in Elkton MD, but probably as good as you’re going to get within Baltimore. The place was clean, well lit, and organized in a logical manner. Very easy to find and located in a good area. I didn’t get much in the way of service, but I didn’t really try to get any either, the checkout wes very fast though, without any "price checks" that are usually my downfall when I’m with the wife and kids. I went from Inner harbor to here, and there were some sketchy neighborhoods in between, given it’s easy access from I-83 when coming down from the North, I’d suggest that route if you’re coming from that way. My next trip to Baltimore will include a stop here again no doubt about it. | | mhelgason (17), Charlotte, North Carolina | | March 11, 2007 I was in the area for an interview so I decided to stop by. Staff pretty much ignored me while I was searching for specific brews. I was impressed with the large selection of beers. I would have been much more impressed with more singles of the micro brews and more singles in a fridge. Overall a very impressive selection. | | fly (163), austin, Tejas, | | March 28, 2006 I’m lucky to have friends that both know the city and can drive straight to all the places I want to go. Very nice selection of so many regionals - Troegs, Yards, DFH, Clay Pipe, etc. along w/ Germans and Belgians and Brits ... | | CharmCityHops (32), Maryland | | February 8, 2006 7 miles north of the city? Maybe if you check the odometer from downtown. Technically, only a few blocks from the city line. One of the best places to buy beer. You will find domestics, internationals, and a good array of rarities. I have found old beer before, beware anything priced well below what it should be. | View Page : 1 2
