| gpekar (10), Sykesville, Md, Alabama | | September 22, 2008 You don’t go here for the ambience. A great selection of beers. Extensive Belgian selections. A good overall selection and some beers that I hadn’t seen at other MD stores. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While we were just browsing through the selections we had several people ask if we needed help or could help find something in a style of beer. The prices here were very good too. Some of the best I’ve seen. It’s a little out of the way for me but on a trip up 95 we stopped in to check it out. If you make the 95 run you owe it to yourself to stop in. | joeyplush (2), Boothwyn, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | August 24, 2008 This is a great and worthwhile stop for anyone in the Philadelphia or Baltimore areas. Tremendous selection of beers from around the world, including a great selection of belgians. Good glassware selection too. | KnN (9), Greenbelt, Maryland does not count - explanation | | August 14, 2008 Pretty dingy, but not a bad beer selection at all. They had a few things I’d never seen before which is always nice. The Belgian section is really extensive and the English beer selections was great. I bought a bottle of Sake while I was there and the wine guy was really good. Also the only place where I’ve sen some of the Dogfish Head Liquor selections. | | bp (37), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | August 12, 2008 The place is kinda dingy but that is about the only thing bad you can say about this place. The selection of beer and wine is very good and the prices are the best I’ve seen for craft beer between NYC and DC. I spent over $100 and could have easily doubled that with things I had been wanting to try. This will certainly become a regular stop anytime I am driving back to PA from the south just as Oak Tree has become a regular pit stop on my drives from NYC to Philly. | | DrBayern (35), Morehead City, North Carolina | | July 31, 2008 [ Updated September 7, 2008 ] Terrific beer selection. The Belgian collection is certainly among the best i’ve seen. Nothing special about the store itself, as it is just a giant liquor, wine, and beer store. Nonetheless, all of the beer is nicely laid out and organized.pService was very cordial and helpful. I asked if they had the Stone Chocolate Stout, and the guy I talked to went in the back to check with the owner. He came back out and told me when it would be in (the nest day) and how many cases they were getting (23!). The owner came out shortly and I had a nice conversation with him. This is must stop if you’re on I-95 in that area. Certainly one of the top two or three retailers I’ve been to.
Addendum on 09/07/08. A couple of weeks ago, I e-mailed an order to State Line, as my daughter was going to be coming by there on her way home for a brief visit. In the e-mail I asked about Troeg’s Nugget Nectar, which the website indicated was out of stock. When I talked with Robert, who is in charge of the beer ordering (he may be the owner, I’m not sure), he told me that although they were out of stock, he was bringing one in from home for me!! The entire order, about two cases of beer, was all boxed up and ready to go when my daughter arrived. On a scale of 10 for service, I give them an 11. A must stop along I-95. | | machfive55 (14), Columbia, Pennsylvania | | July 8, 2008 I e-mailed my order to State Line prior to going down there because my plan was to stop in and pick it up on my way home from vacation. When I got to the store I found out my order was not ready, but that was my time, as I arrived early. So, the order pickers got right on in and pulled my whole order in about 5-10 minutes. They got me checked out rather quickly too. I was surprised at the speed of their service on the day before a very busy holiday weekend.
Not too impressed with the store as there isn’t much too it, just shelves with beer, wine and liquor, but what do you expect from a liquor store? Lot’s and lots and lots of beer and all available pretty much by the single bottle/can...sorry that is strange to me as I’m from PA and we buy in cases.
Excellent store, nice people that know the product and they work hard to please their customers. I’ll shop here again if I’m in the area. | | maniac (55), Richmond, Virginia | | June 28, 2008 Huge beer selection here. Excellent service. Not far off the interstate so it’s a quick place to drop in if you’re in the area. | | BeerGestapo (12), Windsor, Pennsylvania | | June 13, 2008 [ Updated August 14, 2008 ] Wow, This place is the Awesome !!! It’s my second time at state line, First time down was with fellow knight AFI96. Well, from the outside you would drive right past thinking nothing special here, But you could not be more wrong !!! Inside they have the BEST selection of beer that i’ve seen yet. What makes it so special for me is that they have singles !!! And that is exactly what i want. They have beer’s from Japan, Britian, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Scotland, America, Canada, and from many other countries as well. The staff is pretty friendly, the discount helps alot, and the owner is fantastic, he was very knowledgeable and willing to help me in my quest for the brew Fantome Saison. Also, they have a very nice selection of glassware !! If you really Love beer you need to check this place out. :) | | jredmond (13), New Jersey | | June 5, 2008 From outside you might not guess it, but this place has a bad ass selection. Best I’ve seen. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful without being pushy and annoying - very knowledgeable. Tons of glassware in the back. Tons of beer, both domestic and foreign. You can mix and match anything which is a huge plus. The foreign beers arent too pricey either. Great place. | | The_Captain (20), Lancaster, Pennsylvania | | May 8, 2008 Second time I have been to State Line, this time with Moses and Afire(Devonshire Representing!) Great selection and actually a nice drive. The place kind of fools you when you first see it, especially when you see the web site and expect to see something more. The beer selection is the best and staff and discounts are great. Met the owner and he was very open about the beer and what he orders and opinions, even gave us some great samplings. Will sure to be back soon in the future. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
