first stop on Dirtymike’s and my tour of western Mass breweries. They have a winery, distillery, and brewery on the premises. Tasting room and store is set in a nice large country type farm house. Very clean and nice building. Had samples of some ports, liquor and beer. Beer I sampled was clean but pretty ordinary. Got a tour of the distillery, winery, and brewery which was pretty cool, and the brewer hooked us up with a bunch of low fill IPA’s and belgian dubbel’s, that deserves a perfect score. Will hope to visit again during the summer or fall.

As we walked into the beautiful renovated house the place is clean, well lite, the wine dominates most of the area. The beer is straight back as you walk in. There are no growlers (only six packs $7.99 and singles $2.25). They have lots of cool glassware and gadgets for wine as well as a few things for the beer in house. The tasting area is to the left as you walk in. They have all the wines they make for tasting, Also the spirits, as well as all the beers including the seasonals. (Note:You could taste as much as you want for free.) As we entered we went straight to the tasting, I was very curious about any seasonal beers they had. They had six beers on tap (Heron Ale, Bolt 117, English-IPA, and three seasonals Imperial Stout which they were out for purchase but still on tap, Peach Lambic, and Barleywine). All six beers were well crafted and fresh, I loved the ambiance of Nashoba. Everything was friendly, clean, and easy to find. I will def be back for dinner at J’s restaurant and for a tour hopefully once the weather is warmer and the trees are in full bloom.

I guess in my rating of ambiance, I’m taking in to account the whole grounds of the place, orchard, lovely restaurant, all the old barns and even the tasting room is very elegant. Awesome fruit wine selection, good ciders, perrys, fortified wines, liquors. Beer is a little lackluster, selection wise, only 4 or 5 types on at once. I’m dying to get here in the summer.

Now, this isn’t a beer place. They specialize in fruit wines, but have a brewery and distillery too. The shop is real nice, loft ceiling, exposed wood kinda place. You’ll find the beer in the wall toward the back. Just their own beers obviously. People have always been great, including the brewer, Ben, who chatted with me for a bit. There is a restraunt associated with the winery, J’s, that is high end, dinner for two will probably fall be between 75 -100 bucks. Had a kangaroo steak there. Not sure how to score overall, I’ve always had a good experience here, but the emphasis is wine. Just a few minutes off 495.
