| valpoaj (12), Valparaiso, Indiana | | June 20, 2009 Visited twice on business. Relaxed atmosphere at lunchtime...prices for food are competitive, and the food is pretty good. Beer is about average for your typical brewpub, and it has a family establishment feel, so the beers are obviously designed to cater to the casual beer drinker. Usually only one beer on tap that is ’outside the norm’...e.g. an Impy Stout or a Maibock...otherwise, its the traditional blonde, lager, red, etc that you choose from. All this being said, I left this place satisfied and would visit again, though if we went somewhere else next time, I wouldn’t be disappointed...get my drift? | | amg800 (15), Ada, Michigan | | June 8, 2009 Last visit was for a beer tasting hosted by a friend of mine. Service was friendly, beer was enjoyable but nothing to right home about. I didn’t eat the food, but the guy next to me had some great looking chicken tenders... can’t screw those up. | | esjaygee (103), Oak Creek, Wisconsin | | March 19, 2009 Stopped in for food and some beer and came away pretty disappointed. The beer wasn’t very good and the burger I had tasted like lighter fluid. The service wasn’t terrible, but nothing to write home about either. My sampler platter arrived with beer spilled all over the place – but in the end I guess it didn’t matter since the beer was well below average. | | drunkysersose (11), Michigan | | February 1, 2009 Smokey bar, below average beer, comatose servers.. I don’t think they really care... | Uyanga13 (2), Grand Rapids, Michigan does not count - explanation | | January 22, 2009 I’ve been there twice, but didn’t like the service. Food isn’t great! It’s fine place to try. That’s all. | | HailSquishface (10), Ferndale, Michigan | | January 17, 2009 I went here on a Sunday at about 2 in the afternoon. The brewer was always very friendly at the MBG Fests and said they’d have bottles on hand. So I called about the seasonals a few days earlier and was told a Tripel and Lambic were on, sounds great.
I didn’t sit at the bar because of smoking so I had to deal with screaming kids instead. It’s taking a hit on atmosphere for that alone. It had a Red Robin-esque vibe about the place.
The waitress was very friendly and a bit on the slow side, but they were a bit busy.
They had about 5 regular taps and 2 or 3 seasonals. I ordered the Raspberry Lambic which was a bit cloying, but I’ve had worse.
I ordered a burger which was probably the best thing about the place.
They didn’t have bottles because the brewer quit and the new guy is settling in. | WakeandBake (4), Greenville, Michigan does not count - explanation | | October 4, 2008 Stopped in here with the family for lunch. They have a special lunch menue $5.99 lunch includes a soda, the food was Very good. I had the beer sampler and the 6th all the beers were so/so nothing special, took home a growler of the Octoberfest, not bad, Our waitress was Super nice, knowledgable, and did an awesome job ! The place was clean and quiet with some soft old time music playing in the background. All in all we had fun and left full ,we’ll be back. | | Slabjacker (34), | | August 4, 2008 Restaurant first, brewery second - that’s my impression. They’re a restaurant catering to all crowds (but particularly families) that just happens to make their own beer. Sat at the bar and ordered a sampler of beer and a sampler of munchies. Munchies were good, beer was average, at times with a bitter aftertaste. The dark was decent as was the sixth tap which was a berry-flavoured brew. The service was nothing spectacular the bartender did his job but seemed preoccupied by the locals further down from us. It would be nice if the beers were listed on their website as a web page (instead of having to download the menu). Very run-of-the-mill, if that’s what you are looking for. You probably won’t be disappointed but you won’t be wowed either. Try it and see for yourself. | | mmmbeer (23), Austin, Texas | | July 22, 2008 (Visited 7-5-08) The wife was hungry and I knew from many previous visits that the food here is top notch, but the beer... hmm... Somewhat old time/ rustic feel of the place. Server was also tending the bar, so he had his hands full. Brews- 6 taps, usually one is rotating with a special made one. The brew itself is largely hit and miss- some rather generic ones, some sessioners though. Food- the upswing of the joint- very good quality and portions, the wife and I only ordered 3 appetizers and we still had to get a bag to go, have never had a bad experience with the food in almost a dozen visits here. Overall- The food speaks for itself- top notch and great prices. I just wish the brews could match the standard set by it. | | sneagrams3 (20), St. Louis, Missouri | | May 10, 2008 Visited 4/27/08. Sunday brunch. German feel. Nice and comfortable. 7 taps. Plus an impressive bottle list. Big keno bar. Friendly service. Apparnetly the brewer just left for another job, but the beers were solid. All wood with tasteful decor. Vintage feel. No beer til noon on Sunday. Worth checking out. |
