Medium size sports-bar/brewpub located on an ugly southern Detroit suburb commercial street. Big open-space with too many large screens tvs for my liking and each of them showing a different sport. Cheap food, you’ll be hard-pressed to find something above $10 on the menu. It’s the land of low-class American food with your array of BLTs, Club, Chicken fingers, Burritos. Crowd is 30 to 50 years old overweight middle class blue collar workers. Not exactly your typical beer enthusiasts. Brewery equipment nicely laid-out in plain view behind the large bar with no windows or partitions. Seven beers on tap. Most were unappealing: American Style Lager (ouch… bud clone), Rootbeer flavoured beer (double-ouch), Mild, etc... I went with 2 x half-pints of the two beer that seemed the less boring (Stout & IIPA). The stout was barely ok and the IIPA was pretty good. Super-friendly owner who came to my table when he noticed I was taking notes. We talked beer, this extra-nice man really likes his bar and his beer, more than I did. The main problem with this place is that it’s located in the wrong part of town. All the cool Detroit beer scene happens on the opposite side of town (Kuhnhenn, Black Lotus, etc.). There’s just not much happening around Fort Street. This is place is worth a stop if you’re in this part of town but it is not worth a detour.

Nice cozy atmosphere with a good amount of seating and bar space, very high ceilings which helps with the smoking and brewing equipment in plain view. The beers were all very solid and being anniversary week they even had a lambic and 2 belgians along with a tasty IPA and Stout. Food was very good, rueben and philly kicked ass, onion rings were awesome and I think they had the best coleslaw I’ve ever had. I had a great time and will definitely go back any time I’m back up that way. Just minutes from 75 no excuse not to stop here.

Did not spend a lot of time there but did get a good sandwhich and a tasty IPA. I like the space and layout of the brewpub. Seems that the brewer is doing a lot of cask conditioned ales which is a good thing. If in the area you should contact Pailhead for what is the best plan of attack.

I have seen some incredible improvement in the service and the food has always been outstanding.
The Brewmaster Doug Beedy is hands down one of the best I have tasted and he is incredibly creative with his cask conditioned ales.
He has brewed 122 different beers in 2 years and one month. Quite a feat if you ask me. If you have to drive a distance to get there it WILL be worth the trip.
I have met regulars that come form the eastside to enjoy the brew, food and atmosphere!!!

My friends love this place but I still cant get over some things to really enjoy it . First the place is a large plain building with a overly dull interior. They had tried sprucing it up with a few tv’s and a large picture of Kramer behind the bar but it still lacks the feel that a good brew pub should have.. every time I have visited this place there was always a strange and unusual problem with the service.... I had to wait almost an hour to order food when there was three servers and only 20 +/- customers .
The beer is good and there is always something unusual on tap a limited selection 6 beers I think... The brewer doug is a very friendly guy and loves to talk about beer if he has the time.. If I could rate this place for beer only I would give it a 18.
But the service and ambiance keeps me from going back

Spacious interior, looks and feels brand new. Lacking service, the bartender was pretty bitchy and I tried to order their sampler but they wouldn’t serve me it because there was some sort of festival going on on that street and it "might" get busy. I was one of 6 people at the bar that can seat about 35, so just give me the damn sampler! It sure as hell wasn’t busy when I ordered it. Decent food, small menu though. The beer was decent, pretty average. They apparently have some bugs to work out.

All I can say is save your time and take a pass. Subpar beers and the food took over an hour to arrive. The prices are low enough but it’s run like Hell’s Kitchen.

Nice newly opened microbrewery downriver of Detroit. Typically 4-6 standard beers on tap with a few specials available. Every two weeks there is a cask beer release where brewmaster Doug unleashes his newest creations. Nice blues music jams. Great food menu at fantastic prices. Should be visisted.
