Glouglouburp | First thing cool about this place is the big formatters outside the building that for the non-connoisseur must look like big aluminium things waiting for the scrapyard. For the connoisseurs we know what these things contains. Actual pub is pretty cool because it just doesn’t look like much. A bunch of tables thrown in an open space, an improvised bar and there you go, you’ve got a pub. Smaller than I expected given the worldwide reputation of the brewery. Beer menu is obviously to die for. About 10 taps with 2 or 3 of them tap exclusive (not bottled). And then you’ve got the bottles, quite a few of them. No guest beers and that’s fine, Kuhnhenn has enough variety. Beer menu is obviously very variable given the history of their history of brewing a new beer more often than brewing a previously brewed beer. One of the owner/brewer Bret noticed I was a beer-geek and we talked beer and exchanged stuff. He even went to the back to get me some Bourbon Barrel American Imperial Stout that wasn’t on the menu. Amazing stuff. So my suggestion to you is try to look as a beer geek, take notes, ask pointy questions about the beers, whatever, and hope the same thing happens to you. There were about 6 different kinds of beers available in bottles to go. The most interesting ones were the Aldebaran, the Forth Dementia and the classic Raspberry Eisbock. I left with a six-pack of Aldebaran and Raspberry Eisbock. Don’t expect super deal, the interesting Kuhnhenn bottles are expensive even directly at the brewpub.

| kieleszd | It’s beer and peace, a hopping heaven. It feels like home to Europeans minus the smoke. Service is superior ask for Adam Rocca service can only equate his. Excellent ever changing selections they are truly the Jedi’s of brewing. You can brew your own beer too! Food is gourmet cheese, meats and crackers, matched with free popcorn. Play a game of Euchre and cherish an exceptional brew.

miketd | This place is a tough one to rate. Been here a couple of times and like it, but it certainly has problems. The pro’s: Nice, friendly atmosphere, cute waitresses, good selection, cool locals and easy to find. Cons: food is average at best, service can be coma inducing and can get very crowded. Overall I like the place and plan to go back soon.

mattmc1973 | My main praise is that it’s a smoke-free establishment, and there aren’t many here in blue-collar Detroit! Great service, good live music, and an awesome selection of beer. Got many samples and did a lot of ratings! I’ll be back, definitely...

MikeF | Simple interior. A moderate sized bar separating brewing equipment from a larger room of simple tables and chairs. The service is unbeatable. Having heard I was from out of town I received especially great service including a couple of free samples of impossible to obtain beer. In fact, we were served by the owners father, a friendly, interesting, generous man. The beer speaks for itself. This is currently the best brewery in the country. Their beers are uniquely complex and rich and very region appropriate. Everything they offer is top notch from the simple summer lagers to the monstrously good Rasp Eisbock. The tenacious cassis on draft was unbelievable. Did not order any food. A must stop for anyone near the state of Michigan!

Mr_Stitch | FANTASTIC! Kuhnhenn’s is an awesome place... from the excellent beer to the sweet cream cheese filled pretzels to the popcorn machine it is really a great spot. The atmosphere is really cool, when you walk in its not all done up with a bunch of pretentious yuppie types sitting around discussing business like some brewpubs are... its like the corner pub by your house that has a welcome to all feel. The service was excellent and it was a rather busy night, but the minute our glasses were empty someone was right there asking if we wanted another. The staff was knowledgeable about the beers they were serving and was able to recommend styles that suited our tastes. And it was the first brewpub that I have been in, that the owner/brewer took time to come over to meet us after he found out we were from out of state. This is a must go to spot for lovers of good beer and good service. And if you happen to meet Eric ask him if he has anything special that he might be willing to let you try... trust me you WONT be disappointed.

hotstuff | Second visit to this establishment. This time did not get to sit at the bar as it was a Saturday night and they were very busy. They look to be expanding which is good. Had a couple of beers that I hadn’t had before and we bought two bottles of mead for future rating get togethers. Free popcorn and we had coupons for free pizzas and they were just okay. Nothing truly great IMO. Definitely will revisit the next time in the area. A must stop if you are in the area.

crizay | Drove 3 hours just to come here and it was well worth it. It’s not about the glitz and glam it’s about them making some serious kick ass shit. Seems like your neighborhood bar, not a whole lot of seating but also not in a very busy area. What is to be said is the beer is amazing as was the wine and meads they make. Probably about 12 different beers with a big ass wine list and a few meads. They just know what there doing and have fun with it when it comes to creating alcoholic beverages. The girls serving and Brett made it a very fun time for us long after hours. Apparently there are some snack foods as well like pizza, nachos and pretzels. Thanks again for the awesome time and we will be back soon.

iowaherkeye | Went here last weekend with some friends, and we had one helluva time. When we did find the place, it looked nothing like I thought it would. Brightly lit for a brewpub. Half of the building is apparently being redone into something not sure what though. Service was greatgot samples of some meads and Holly put up with our increasingly inebriated butts very well. Selection was 11 of their brews and two meads that was too much for me, and all but two I likedone I didn’t have, and the other was a glorified malt liquor, which actually wasn’t bad for what it was. No smoking helped me enjoy the beers even more. Got a tour of the brewery from Bret @ 2a.m. and continued to BS with Eric long into the night. They could’ve easily told us to call it a night long before he finally called us a cab. $500+ later, and it was one memorable experience. My girlfriend is lucky we live nine hours from here, otherwise I would try to live there.

| Ubername | Great beer. Currently under expansion, so things were a little rough in there. I think its a good work in progress. The people make it. The bar itself is nothing outstanding, but the beer makes up for it. No smoking is nice.
