| ElGaucho (146), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | September 26, 2005 I am a little less critical of this place than JK. I rate selection based upon a comparison to the average liquor store, and the selection here is far, far better than the average liquor store, and therefore worthy of an above average score for selection. Although the selection may still not be quite what it is at the Cellars in Minnetonka, I didn’t see it as considerably less. And it appeared that the mix-a-six section was more customer friendly (better variety, less expensive) than in Minnetonka since Jason became their new beer guy. Overall, this place is one of the best liquor stores I have been to in the Metro area; certainly in the top 10, and maybe at the bottom of the top 5, and since Cellars Minnetonka has slid under new mgt, the gap is closing. | | JK (96), Twin Cities, Minnesota | | April 20, 2005 [ Updated June 16, 2005 ] Far better than the average liquor store, but lacking in selection compared to some other bottle shops. You can find a rare beer or two, but mostly beers you can find easily at the other Cellars, Surdyks, or Blue Max. Hardly anything on sale, and nothing marked down enough to make me buy it when I otherwise would not. I mention this because Woodbury, Roseville, and Minnetonka usually have some good beer at sale prices. If you are nearby and need something by all means stop, but I would go to the nearby Minnetonka location instead. Staff was friendly. The best thing about this shop was the mix and match six pack selection. |
