September 16, 2008 Stopped by here recently and I knew the name was familiar. Turns out they are a branch of the subpar KC brewpub. Three of the KC brewpub beers they have trucked in were on tap along with a small selection of a few micros. The food was jsut ok. Very strange decorations in this place. I could hardly make my way in the bathroom. I see no reason for anyone to visit, the beer is just ok. |

February 3, 2008 Super bowl Sunday and the place was dead. 12 taps. Four of their beers, standard BMC offerings, boulevard wheat and fat tire. 24 bottles the best being two hearted. Really nothing special. Way better than average bar food. Bartender was pleasant. Other than their house beers not so much of a craft beer destination. I live about a quarter mile away so its a decent spot to visit from time to time but don’t go out of your way. |

November 28, 2006 This is the closest brewpub to the house where my friends live in St Louis Park and I suspect I’ll be back again before too long, but I can’t say I was terribly impressed on one visit. Had three beers (IPA, Oktoberfest & Dry Stout) and all were quite mediocre at best; we had a couple of appetizers that were ok but I don’t think I can rate the food based on that. Not much visual appeal to me -- typical low-end industrial chic, new and shiny but without much real character. Very good, friendly service which is typical (even stereotypical) in the Twin Cities and that certainly helps but on the whole this would not be the first place I’d revisiti in the area. |

February 4, 2006 Stopped in one afternoon for a good lunch of fish and chips which was actually served in a metal bowl lined with newspaper. I love it. The beer was surprisingly good: four regulars and one seasonal. They had a decent variety of other beers, but nothing more stunning than Sierra Nevada. |

October 27, 2004 I live just upstairs from here. It’s a good resturant with terrific food. The service is good as well. I haven’t samepled all of their available brews (I’m usually there over lunch) but definatly enjoy them. |

May 19, 2004 After opening their second location in Minnesota, in October 2003, they just started serving their own beer in mid-May 2004 (which is brewed in their Kansas City location). The place is located in the attractive new Excelsior & Grand develoment which includes luxury condos and some other restaurants and shops. Their beer is solid, especially the Newcomb’s IPA and the brewmaster, Keith Thompson, promises to change the styles up on occasion. The place was fairly crowded on a Tuesday night when I went and is well worth your time for a visit. Check out their website for a beer list. However, I believe they just pulled Pilsner Urquell off their trees to make room for their own beer. |
