My roommate and I stopped in here a couple years ago while on our way for a hike up the Temperance River. Tofte is in the empty space between Duluth and and Grand Marais that’s mostly state park land. What a surprise! Ambiance is a beautiful view of the lake from a an elevated patio. Owned by bulgarian immigrants and started up just a few years before we were there in 06. Super friendly and attentive service. Nothing on tap, but they offer the full Lake Superior line in bottles and most of the Bell’s line including Expedition and TCOA. Food was very good focused on fresh and local. Mostly a bakery/soup and salad type place. Given that it just dawned on me to add this place yesterday, it’s completely possible that you can’t get those beers here anymore. It’s worth a shot just for a meal though, and it’s pretty sweet to have a capper of Expedition after a hike.
