| hopscotch (152), Vero Beach, Florida | | August 18, 2009 The place had a nice atmosphere with plenty of televisions, clean restrooms and very attentive service. The place is very homey and their mug club seems cool. The beer was very good, not great... sometimes good is good enough. The Rye PA and Mudhouse Stout were highlights. I wish I had eaten so I could contribute something regarding the quality of the food. I will say that my wife ordered a salad of mixed greens and basically received iceberg lettuce and cucumbers. Based on an experience at another restaurant later in our visit to the Ozarks, this seems to be the norm for this region of Missouri. Regardless, I’ll stop by again if ever I am in the area. | | heemer77 (172), Savannah, Missouri | | March 29, 2009 I thought the line up of beer was decent. I thought it was cool to see so many fermenters sitting around, since they bottle. The food was above average with very large portions. The prices were surprisingly reasonable, one of the cheapest brewpubs I have ever visited. Overall, it is worth a visit if you are in the area. | | Alerider (27), Indianapolis, Indiana | | March 4, 2009 A good place. Many locals think this is as good as it gets. Beer selection is OK but could be much better. | | AmEricanbrew (78), Almost, Texas | | January 13, 2009 In a huge, two story building. The lower level is a family friendly restuarant and bar, upstairs is a tavern/sports bar with six or so pool tables and big screen tv’s. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt, and had more than enough to say about all of the tap brews. Had a most tasty roast beef french dip and fries. Overall a nice place to visit. | abcfan (7), New Jersey does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2008 Stopped by for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Black and bleu cheeseburger was very tasty. Washed it down with a Dry Stout from the tap. Staff was very helpful when answering question about the 10th Anny Ale they are selling. Will be going back in a few days to pick up a bottle or two. | | Walt (185), Chicago, Illinois | | March 22, 2008 Great place! Beers are very solid and the food was great! Parking seemed to suck and service was not great, but we were there right after lunch and sat at the bar...so I think the bartender was busy...if you are in town, head over there. They also sell bottles to go. | | bleeng (68), Spring near Beersel , Texas | | January 29, 2008 Nice gentle brewpub in downtown Springfield. Great bar area-clean and bright. Not an overwhelming selection of beers. The usual light, brown, pale ale, etc. A nice dubbel bock on tap though. Pizza was very good. I bought some 750’s of their belgium oak aged beer-I’ll give that a taste later on. A nice little midwestern safe brewpub. One issue-the bartender did not know that the bottled beer was an ale-he said it was a combination of an ale and lager. Well, I guess there’s a reason he’s a bartender. | pojo41 (6), Hattiesburg, Mississippi does not count - explanation | | January 14, 2008 Excellent service from staff. Very good food. The wait staff were courteous and knowlegeable. Also got to take a tour of the brewing operation. The man brewing took time out from his work to give my brother and I a tour just becuse my sister asked if it would be possible. He did a nice tour and chatted with us for several minutes afterward.
Oh yeah, the beer is excellent too. If you get to Springfield it is definitely worth visiting this place. | BenRod (4), Springfield, Missouri does not count - explanation | | August 16, 2007 The major drawbacks of the Springfield Brewing Company are that the staff is innefective at its best, unfriendly at its worst, and that the parking is minimal, although they are building a parking garage directly across the street. I consistently have trouble getting proper service, especially in the upstairs bar, and they seem to feel as if they are doing you a favor every time they serve you. Several of their beers are very good, although some are not as good. The food is actually pretty tasty, especially their cheese soup, which is made with their ale.
Also, their mug club membership is very hard to get, as they only sell a very few memberships once per year, and they offer them to the previous members first. They are usually sold out of their memberships in a couple of hours, and will not sell any more for another year.
Overall, if you are going here, go for the food and stay for the beer, not the other way around. | | tjthresh (77), Greenfield, Indiana | | July 28, 2007 Very typical. Smoking and non smoking bars. Decent food. 9 taps. Very busy with a buch of yuppie types. Not a bad place, just nothing special. |
