If you’re visiting St. Louis and love beer, you need to put Dressels on your list. Unibroue Maudite. Left Hand Milk Stout. O’Fallon 5 day IPA. New Belguim, Boulevard, Fuller’s stock selections and seasonal. A few other beers also. A great place in a great area of St. Louis, the Central West End. Lewelyns is around the corner, another great place.

Dressel’s is one of my favorite places. Eight drafts available, two of which are quite rare: Felinfoel Double Dragon and ESB. Also available are Fuller’s London Porter, two Boulevard selections, New Belgium’s Pilsner, Guinness, and Sam Adams. Strongbow (can’t bear to call this stuff "cider") is also on tap. The Double Dragon is a top-notch best bitter, and the ESB, while good, is a bit sweet for my palate. The real hits at Dressel’s are the atmosphere (which includes the always entertaining staff), and the food. Truly good pub fare, with an interesting selection of daily specials. Particular favorites are the pork loin sandwich, which is marinated in a beer/soy sauce combo before being grilled, and the Chips, which are freshly made to order. Despite the small selection, I’ve spent many a happy evening with a couple pints of Double Dragon, a basket of chips, and a pork sandwich. Dressel’s does get quite smoky later in the evening, especially on weekends, so go early, be prepared, or go when its temperate enough to sit at one of the tables on the sidewalk.
