RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Located Downtown this is the best brewpub in St. Louis. There are 3 different bars to choose from, at the main bar they have over 10 different beers on tap. The other two don’t have all the seasonals. They have great food and average service. The sticky toffee pudding is a must.

| jfern1953 | Hop in the City in September is a great beer festival.

BeerandBlues2 | Large building in downtown area with newly planted hop vines growing near the entrance. The food is VERY good and offers something for everyone without causing sensory overload. Nice selection of house brews.

skoisirius | Second trip out to St. Louis...decided to see what was up at Schlafly. You walk into a big brick building and have your choice of areas to drink beer. I went for the Eliot Room. Ran into the bartendar who was in a great mood and got their sampler, with as many of the seasonals as I could. Everyone seemed in great spirits on a Friday night, including the 22 yr olds getting plowed next to me quite quickly. Selection was great...had about 12 options. All in all a great experience. I definitely find that these guys found a malt they like and stuck with it, which tends to make the beers all feel the same on the palate. Definitely worth a trip downtown!

FishManLA | A nice selection of St. Louis Brewery beers and tasty food. They use proper glassware for the beer type ordered as well (which is not indicated in the description). A very old historic building that used to house a printing shop and was once gutted by fire (evidence of which still exists on the exposed wooden beams in the ceiling). Kind of cavernous inside with tall ceilings and lots of seating. Pool tables and darts.

JoeinUccle | Used to go here a lot when I lived in STL, but not often enough. Good food, good beer and always a few interesting seasonals. Atmosphere strikes a balance between fancy pub and St. Louis character. The highlight for me was when they opened up in the wee hours so we could drink beer ad watch the World Cup back in ’02. Darts and pool in the bar area. Some tables outside. Pretty good local bands make appearances, as I recall.

sneagrams3 | Spatious with two lower level bars. Left side has a few couches and bar tables. Pool darts and a nice Juke box. Up to 12 different taps. Consistant yet oft rotating seasonals and one shote. Solid bar food. The temperature of the beer from the taps is not optimal but its better than most joints. Cask at the South bar. More of a dining room area, but you can still belly up to the bar. Ample parking in the lot and on the street. Brewers and execs always running around. Nice tavern feel. Lotta wood. Old school art on the walls. Classy and clean. Friendly staff, some more versed than others. Good times. I actually jot release dates on my calalndar at home to mark beers. Good jumping off spot for the weekend, but I usually stay there all night! Love the Tap Room!

| nimrod | Good size two story brewpub with a nice feel. There is a display of a small batch brewery in the pub. I had a tasty brat with applesauce for lunch and the Vienna and Brown ale. Bartender was nice and even let us try the scotch ale. I’d like to come here in the evening for live music.

Walt | Bad night to go there...some oyster festival was happening and they were on like a 2 hour wait for a table...decent place though...

krysztofar | i love going to the tap room for a good informal meal. service can very widely depending on what time of day and what day you come in. sometimes service is excellent, i have also had to wait up to 20 min for a server and had one abandon me in the middle of my meal only to clock out, and leave me (and date) drinkless. the bartenders on the other hand are quite nice and know a good amount about what they’re pouring. food is simple pub fair but consistently good. they also support the local art scene. many local bands play here frequently, and upstairs there is a good size venue for smaller touring acts and special functions. if your in the area be sure to check it out just a few minute from downtown.

Ughsmash | The place was undergoing what looked to be major renovations when I was there.. so the Ambiance is usually better, I’d assume. I had very attentive service, the mussels were solid, and there were about 11 beers on tap. It was rather quiet the night I was there, but I’m sure that with the size and layout, it can be jumpin’ on weekends.
