| BrewCzar (16), St Louis, Missouri | | August 21, 2008 Great ambiance in and older brick bulding near the Anheuser Busch brewery in south St Louis. I had a great laugh when I heard the waiter state that they didn’t carry AB products. 30+ bottles on their beer list including Southern Tier, Left Hand, Avery, Rogue, Chimay, and many others. 24 beers on tap. I had the Hoptimus, Hopmouth and Old Rasputin at $4,$5,$ and $8 respectively for a 20oz pour. Very good service. A slight twist on the normal bar food found around the St Louis area. Still not brewing or distilling, but I will be going back. | | BeerandBlues2 (139), Colorado Springs, Colorado | | July 22, 2008 This place is pretty cool despite being a few weeks out from brewing and distilling. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and in bottle, enough to whet the appetite. The food is very good and service was excellent. Do not worry about the neighborhood as you are heading this way it gets worse before it gets better. Lots of history in this building and nice to see someone taking an interest in preserving that. | | thegreenrooster (35), St.louis, Missouri | | July 12, 2008 Omlooper’s rating pretty much describes this place. Walking in you can tell someone put a lot of time and effort in this place. A few tables up front with a distellery on the right and a brew house on the left. (they did not have anything they made there available yet.). 20 beers on tap and some in bottles. Decent menu with grinders and pizza. Service was good but this for lunch on a slow Saturday afternoon but they had plenty of people working there. I will deffinatly make this a place to stop by more often as its only about 2 miles from my house and i have to pass by it coming home from work. My one and only knock on the place is the glassware. Everything is servied in a 20oz glass. Trying to get down a 20oz Old Rasputin can be tough. | omlooper (2), does not count - explanation | | July 4, 2008 [ Updated July 11, 2008 ] A good beer bar. 20 beers on tap and another 15 or so in bottles. Located in the Stables of the old Lemp brewery, just across Hwy 55 from AB. The place has a great vibe, cool patio and the makings of a man cave upstairs. Unibroue, Left Hand, Bells, Boulevard, O’Fallon, Schlafly, Chimay, Ayinger. The draft beers rotate, it appears. But, if your a stickler for proper glassware, you’re not going to get it. 20 ounce glasses with a big head 16 ounce pour. I had Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale and a Charleville (St. Genevieve, MO) IPA HopMistic which was great. We went during lunch and I had the Steak Grinder and my wife had a Carbonara Pizza. The Grinder was really good as was the Pizza but it had a LOT of garlic. Not a bad thing. The service was attentive and samples beer were plenty, perhaps because the place is brand new.
Most definitely worth a special trip. |
