| Borresteijn (13), Amstelveen, Netherlands | | August 30, 2008 Beercafé in the heart of Amsterdam, so always very crowded with (beer)tourists. Nice old bar, tiles and woody interior. Good selection of tap beers and a great selection of bottles, although I think the bottles are a bit overpriced. There’s no music, so it can be very quiet in here. Nevertheless one of the best beer bars in Amsterdam. | | DSG (39), Yuvalim, Israel | | August 19, 2008 The best beer bar in Amsterdam even if only for the fact it has a non-smoking room. Beer list is great and contains a lot of Belgian and German (mostly Bavarian) beers as well as some British and American micros and some other stuff. The tap list is also very diverse. I was here during a Belgium-Amsterdam beer trip in March. I was planning to go for a trip in Bavaria and be there on time to have the Schlenkerla Fastbier on tap in Bamberg but decied to go to Belgium instead. So, I was extremely delighted to see the Fastbier was on De Wildeman tap list! Other than this one I hed Urthel Hop-It and St. Georgen Kellerbier. A great place! | | bhensonb (244), Woodland, California | | June 3, 2008 Very nice place. Good selection of beers, though perhaps not so many Dutch beers as ‘t Arendsnest. Stuck with bottles, so can’t speak to the condition of the drafts. Has a very old woody atmosphere - great stack of old kegs on the back wall. Prices seemed very reasonable.
| | MIBRomeo (102), Wisconsin | | May 17, 2008 I felt this place was a disapointment. Higher prices than the other places in the area. Service was poor unless on the smoking side. The beer selection is fairly wide but lacks the quality I normally see w/ 200+ beers. Many of the taps tasted like crappy micro american laggers w/ a belgian twist. I’ll skip this place next time I’m in town. | | puzzl (50), New York, New York | | May 13, 2008 Loved this place! Having such a huge selection of Holland beer was fantastic, and everything was crazy cheap. Most bottles and taps were 2-3 Euros. Atmosphere was top notch, and all the patrons and staff were very friendly. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to hang out for two nights. | | Vac (38), San Diego, California | | May 13, 2008 This is was easily one of the best bars I visited in Amsterdam. Visited it both nights I was in town...it probably helped that it was within walking distance of my hotel. the selection was pretty good with a nice amount of european beers to try. | liebs105 (4), does not count - explanation | | March 26, 2008 This place stands out from every other bar I went to in Amsterdam by its non-smoking room. This was the first, and only, time in this country I was able to sit and enjoy a couple of beers while talking with some other enthusiasts. As it turns out, the non-smoking room was populated by us from the U.S., a couple of Canadians, and a couple of Brits. None of us wanted to drink with the locals in the other room, all of whom had a beer in one hand and a cancer stick in the other. These people really know how to take the enjoyment out of beer sampling.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to drink a Dutch beer again without wanting to sneeze and change my clothes. | DewBrewer (9), Austin, Texas does not count - explanation | | March 24, 2008 Franconian beers on tap? Yes. (and in the bottle, even from the Bamberg brewpub Fassla) Are you kidding me? No. Cask of English mild behind the beer? Yes. Tons of great Belgian & Dutch beers on tap & in the bottle? Yes. Special bottle list with some aged stuff? Yes. Non-smoking room? Yes. Glass of Left Hand Milk Stout in its glass? Yes (when we were there in February). And there is much, much more. If you go to Amsterdam & don’t go here you should just end it all now. The service is excellent and the beers poured proper. You could live there & only have to go to this pub. | | FatPhil (106), Espoo, Finland | | March 6, 2008 Very close to the station - go here _before_ you head to the hostel to drop off your rucksacks. Right hand side is non-smoking, and quieter (all Dutch smoke, it appears). Great draught list - 20 I counted - and even better bottle list with real breadth and depth, and many classics. Both weekly and monthly specials of both bottled and tap beers. Was only in ’dam 3 days, but had 4 trips here. Sterling friendly service. Friendly and beer-loving clientele too. | | berkshire_john (46), Bracknell, England | | March 3, 2008 An ace place good selection of draught and bottled beers good service and a laid-back atmosphere - the best of Amsterdam. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5
