| baggio (12), stockholm, Sweden | | September 24, 2008 A small and very atmospheric bar on of the sidestreets of central amsterdam. Place is very small and might be able to host 25 customers at one time. Good selection of Belgiand and Dutch beer and even quite a few germans and others. Pleasant bartender who was more than willing to help us select something that suited our tastebuds. One of the best bars in amsterdam! | | DSG (39), Yuvalim, Israel | | August 19, 2008 A very small place, most of the time very packed, noisy and smoky. Hard to smell the beer beyond the cigarettes. Decent selection but it doesn’t really help because after 1 beer I got tired of having to put so much effort into smelling my beer. An OK place if you don’t mind all the stuff I mentioned, personally I wasn’t very fond of it. | | Borresteijn (13), Amstelveen, Netherlands | | August 10, 2008 Small and cozy bar, dark and a bit filthy appearance, just the way I like it. Nice tap selection (only 10, not 20), nice bottle selection too, bartender knows his stuff. Prices have gone up quite a bit lately, but still the best Belgian beer bar considering atmosphere in Amsterdam imo. | | acrdz (538), Boulder, Colorado | | June 4, 2008 Two-tiered bar setting, dark and comfortable and bit clubbish in feeling. Beer selection on draft is respectable, but overrun with Belgians instead of Dutch, but at least they were Belgians I hadn’t seen elsewhere in Belgium. No complaints about the crowd or staff, fairly benign visit on a rainy afternoon. Would visit again as a change of pace since you can’t exactly sit in ’t Arendsnest for 12 hours all day. | | JoeinUccle (135), Brussels, Belgium | | May 20, 2008 Small, packed, atmospheric Belgian-beer pub that was unfortunately choked with smoke on our visit. We managed to stay near the fresh air of the open doornot that there was room anywhere else. Local patrons were friendly and service was quick enough. If it were in Brussels it would be one of the city’s top 10, especially if they added some decent lambics. Regardless, I mentally mark every pub that carries Saison Dupont as a good one. My advice: Get there early if you want to sit. | | MIBRomeo (102), Wisconsin | | May 17, 2008 Enjoyable little place. Emphasis on little. You’ll find it in a tiny alley next to the Cracked Kettle (a must for you beer lovers, better than Beer Konig but noones heard of it). Seating here was at a premium, but the service was fantastic. Nice selection of beers on the wall. Some great belgian style taps and enough variety in the bottles to keep me drinking happily although outside of the Westy’s & local micros, likely nothing people would consider hard to come by. | | FatPhil (106), Espoo, Finland | | March 6, 2008 Nice little pub (literal), nice little selection of beers (litotes), nice staff, shame about most of the customers. The smokiest place we entered, but fortunately that will change in mid 2008. Grungy loo (singular) too. With different customers, I believe this place will be worthy of a re-rate to a higher value. | | mowerbyte (18), Aberystwyth, Wales | | January 26, 2008 A gem of a place, a beer-connoisseur’s paradise. Pot-luck if you’ll get a seat but come back if you don’t succeed at first, it’s worth the effort. | | GaltScat (19), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | January 25, 2008 Perfect place to drink the finest beers in the world. I have visited the Gollem several times and each time have left completely satisfied. | | SamGamgee (23), Santa Cruz , California | | December 5, 2007 Very small little bar across from the Cracked Kettle, and I mean small. Seats around the bar and a couple tables up a little staircase. Super cozy worn wooden interior with old bottles lining all the walls, and large chalkboard menus as well. Extensive belgian bottle selection and some good Dutch stuff on top of that. Nice belgian and Dutch tap selection as well, with St Bernardus 12 on tap when I was there. They Also Had Westy 12 and 8, which were pricey at 12 and 10 euros respectively, but it was the only place where I saw them. Other than that, the prices were very good. | View Page : 1 2 3 4
