| jbrus (110), Delft, Netherlands | | November 20, 2009 Strange place compared to where it is located. I was expecting something cosy but instead it was posh. Very friendly staff, although not too knowledgeable she still new more than an average waitress. | | Beerlando (43), Orlando, Florida | | September 4, 2009 Visited in August 2009. This is a peculiar place, as it is in part of what seems to be a stalled re-development of an industrial complex into an entertainment venue. The brewpub itself sports a very modern decor, with a really nice, large, outdoor patio space and what looks like a separate dance club area. The brew equipment is encased in glass behind the bar, and there is plenty of lounge type seating indoors. Unfortunately, the two house beers, a pils (really a pale lager) and a wit, are pretty awful. Overall, while the space is nice, I’d say it is more club than pub. I can’t see how it’s going to work in this sleepy little town. I’d pass on a re-visit. | | bierkoning (173), La Tropica, Netherlands | | October 10, 2008 Opened only last monday, so no info about phone and opening hours, and the website www.twentsebierbrouwerij.nl is not active yet. But the place shows promise. A spartan, but modern pub in an old fabric hall. The rest of the hall is filled with art, little shops and small businesses, and there is room for more. Didn’t try the food, but it looked good. Experienced staff mixed with friendly young girls. Beautiful view from the bar on the brewing equipment, which seems a size too large for this starting business. Prices are just within the limits of the acceptable. I hope they do well, but i’m not sure Hengelo is up to it. |
