Ok, ok, ok. Brewpub, garish, in a casino. And yet... This was the fourth stop of our day-long Reno/Sparks beer crawl and, of all the stops, our least-anticipated. Tucked in the overbearing El Dorado Casino, up the steps, past the information desk and the lit fountains, and the escalators, and countless goofball gamblers, is some fantastic beer. We sat at the bar, the waitstaff was attentive (if a little clueless about the beer), and pours were like, $3.50. The Double Down Stout was creamy and focused, the Jilted Lover was a solid Belgian rendition, and the IPA was just phenomenal. Did I visit the same place as everyone else? New brewer? Parallel universe? They also had four other staples and a seasonal, which we’ll be going back to try soon.

I stopped in on a weeknight when a band was playing. The place was packed and their were only two bartenders for probably at least 100 customers. I only was able to try a couple of their beers and they were served in plastic cups. The good thing is that each cup was only $2. I am still not sure what was on tap as all I found was a mat, no listings on the wall. I am certain I would have liked this place more if I had been there when it wasn’t so full.

Live music and a packed place. I think I had to pay for admission, unless accompanied with females--like a club(thank God for females!). Beer was respectable. Not a place to enjoy a quiet beer...at least not at night on a weekend. I live in Reno and I’ve only been there once...in many years.

Most of the beer here is a waste of time other than the stout. This is often the case with a poor brewery, the heavier roasty stuff is usuallly their best.Food is average at best, service is poor.

Navigate a 1/4 mile to the restaurant through the maze of smoke and flashing lights. Wait in line for 30 minutes before being seated while listening to the gaggle of old people talk about how this place won best brewpub in America (by Bars and Nightlife magazine). Once seated wait for a while until a buzzing waitress notices you then sighs when you ask what they have on tap because her pimp is probably paging here simultaneously. Food selection is poor but reasonable for the environment. Smoky, dimly lit bar-lined walls with masses of mid-life crisis stricken singles that pulse with snobbery. Copper brewery equipment lined everywhere with one of the air-ducts converted into a water feature that looks like they’re pumping beer through it. The beer comes on a wooden peg of a sampler tray and all of their beers are horrible. The food is tolerable but not carefully prepared. The best thing about this place was not tipping before walking out the door and never returning.
