| Sammy (275), Toronto, Ontario | | July 15, 2009 A bit hard to find for a small city, do not follow the Google maps direction, rather we went one street after West Bridge and then turned South. Place is in a basement and the environment is a lot different than the more social and upscale Strange Brew. But it is a brewpub and they try to fill every tap. A number of very drunk though passive people as well as families here for a late afternoon. Lots of tables, this is primarily a band place. The brewmaster alone knew the beers, its the fifth one inside of a year, but he certainly knew his stuff. I can see him opening his own place sometime. The feature for me was the Hoplicious, like a 1.5X IPA. Guest taps would be a good idea, and perhaps lead to rationalizing the product line. | | halfonit (24), Fall River, Massachusetts | | June 6, 2009 Not too bad of a place to get a good brew. But if you’re a band and want to get a gig here, I can honestly tell you that this place has the absolute worst sound system that I have ever heard. And that’s not the only bad thing about this place. If this place ever has any type charity that is for the troops or anything like that, they keep a huge amount amount and then donate about 10% to the troops overseas. Geez thanks so much Milly’s, you keep holding and spending all that money that Americans are dying for and we’ll keep protecting you from all those people that you want to evict so that you can make a profit through this tough time. | VikingMetalGod (2), Manchester, New Hampshire does not count - explanation | | March 2, 2009 A brewer of many exceptional beers, Millys tavern is a fairly popular place in Manchester, NH. Milly’s features many local bands and is usually crawling with talent seekers for said bands. Although I don’t know why because the soundguy usually does a terrible job and makes all the bands sound terrible. Other than that, its a fun place to hang with groups of friends rather than alone. Food is a step beyond bar food, but not restraunt quality. $20 for a growler, give or take, if you’re willing to pay that much. | | JeremyScott (11), Taunton, Massachusetts | | February 5, 2009 Not too shabby. I likes the beer selection. and the food was above average.. We went at a weird time of day, so the service could have been off for that reason. I brought home a growler of their IPA and enjoyed it thoroughly.. I will be going here agian. | | changeup45 (46), Orlando, Florida | | April 16, 2008 Quite spacious, I’ve been there a few times but only ever sat at the bar. Not a bad selection, I’d say they had a dozen or so brews. Food was decent but not spectacular but good enough. They’ve got pool tables and sometimes they get bands playing music. I thought the prices were very good. They had one of their lagers on special for a buck (it wasn’t all that great but it’s a buck!) and their pints were $3.25. At nights, depending on what is going on (or who is playing) it can get quite crowded. All in all I like it and would have no problems going back. | | Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | June 20, 2007 Quite unusual for a brewpub. Rather large and rather ugly place. Just by the look of the place you’d think you are walking into some kind of redneck hillbilly hangout. I can easily imagine a country music dance night taking place in there. The estate has potential though. However what really counts is the beer and the beer IS good. When I was there, there were 9 regular taps and 4 seasonal taps. One 2 or 3 of the 13 taps were crowd-pleasing fillers. Everything else was original and/or delicious. Food was good. Typical decent greasy pub food. Fries were excellent. If you’re lucky is the brewer (dirtymike) will recognize you as a beer geek and bring some behind-the-counter stuff. That’s what happened to us. Worth the detour. | FrankGrimes (1), Nashua, New Hampshire does not count - explanation | | March 8, 2007 The beer is good, the stout is a tad too bitter for me... The scotch ale has some cahones, for real. 4 of those and you are feeling capitol. | | wilkie (38), Raleigh, North Carolina | | February 18, 2007 Really bad service. My wife and I had to wait 10 minutes before being served and it wasn’t crowded. I ordeded chicken wings for about 6.99 (I figured there would be 8-10), and my wife ordered a hamburger--well done. Hamburger was red, not pink, in the middle, and I only got 5 wings. No napkins were provided. No silverware. At least the beer was pretty good. | LyndaNova (7), Manchester, New Hampshire does not count - explanation | | November 8, 2006 Milly’s Tavern is the brewpub to visit in Manchester, NH. The Brewer, Mike, is extremely good at what he does. The selection is always great and always being updated. Mike brews many different beers in many different styles. It is located in the basement of one of the mill buildings by the Merrimack River. There is always somewhere to park; the parking lot is very accomodating. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is decent. May I suggest the chicken parmigiana sub with pub fries? Stop by when you are in the area. You will not be disappointed. : ) | Volgon (8), Manchester, New Hampshire does not count - explanation | | November 8, 2006 The best place in Manchester to have a good fresh beer. Dirtymike brews everything there and his devotion to beer shows in final product. At least eight beers on tap with cask ales and new experiments always showing up. $1 pints between 4-7pm weekdays can make getting home after work a challenge. It can get smokey and loud on the weekends, so make sure that you get there before the sun sets on the weekend. |
