15 reviews for Marthas Exchange Restaurant and Brewing
| Cletus (175), Connecticut | | November 16, 2009 Located in the heart of town. Part restaurant, part chocolate store, part brewery. Food was good. I had the lamb salad and nachos. Beer selection is good. There were 9 beers on tap when I was there. Good service. Worth a visit if in the area. | | Sammy (275), Toronto, Ontario | | July 15, 2009 Pleasant small town brewpub, on a pretty and historic long street. Good sized patio, well kept, above average service. The brewmaster is relatively new here, and experienced and his lineup was above average and a bit adventurous. Good turnover in beer keeps it fresh. Early part of lunch, really not to busy for summer, perhaps reflecting the economy though traffic was fairly buzy. A worthwhile stop if you are passing through. Guest taps would be appreciated to encourage the trip for others, certainly not key for me though. | | mcox90 (24), Wilton, | | March 20, 2009 This is a nice little brewpub/restaurant not to far from where I live, The interior is nice, wood paneling and brick walls. It’s an old 1800’s building. During better weather there’s outdoor sidewalk seating. The staff is fairly attentive and you usually get seated right away. The food is average. I usually eat from the sandwich end of the menu so I can’t comment on the entree’s. Beers are average to very good, depending on your taste. There’s typically 7 of their brews on tap, plus bottled macro brews. Growler refills are reasonable. All in all, a nice place | | beerbuzzmontreal (21), Montreal, Quebec | | March 18, 2009 This is a very nice pub, there’s lots of wood and brick walls. The service and food were good. There was 7 beers on the menu and the quality varied between average to very good. It’s not awesome, but I wouldn’t mind going back to Martha’s. | | willblake (61), Belcamp, Maryland | | December 7, 2008 20080730 Beautiful interior in nifty town. The place seemed high class and a bit aloof but the beers were solid, the food looked great and so did the staff. A bit pricey. Awesome bathroom. | | changeup45 (46), Orlando, Florida | | April 16, 2008 I like this place but it pretty much turns into a nightclub at nights on Friday and Saturday. And as that happens it seems the average age drops. The food is solid and the beers I’ve had there have been pretty good as well. I really liked their Biscuit City Pale Ale and Another Ale. They don’t have the largest selection however. Half dozen taps or so. It is spacious so you shouldn’t have problems getting a table or a spot at the bar (which is also pretty big) unless you come on the aforementioned weekend nights when it is absolutely packed. | | Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | March 7, 2008 [ Updated March 18, 2009 ] I went there a few times during the after-noon for beer and food so I cannot comment about the late-night pub atmosphere. The place itself looks like a nice restaurant (between intermediate and classy) with a large bar counter in the middle. A lot more upper class feeling than 99% of the brewpubs. Except for a few so-so dishes so far the food has been mostly delicious, must superior to you average pub fare. There can be up to 10 beers on tap (1 cask) and they ranged from disappointing to excellent. Of the 9 beers I tried my ratings range linearly from 1.9 to 4.1 !!! (from the pathetic Apathys Reward to the stunning McGanns London Ale). Worth a detour and next time I’d like to try a dinner and night time atmosphere. Service is good but once we got the worst (and I mean THE worst) service I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The waitress wasn’t bad looking at all and I think she was obviously in need of a good f… | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | January 2, 2008 Classy spot with two restaurant sections. It might be a single bad day, but our waitress seemed to keep her smiles and good service for more important patrons on that day. Despite its classy outfit, the place offered 8 beers on draught and another one on cask even! I was quite disappointed with my food, I had a Philly Steak Sandwich which was not steallar and annoying since every other of the 5 plates on the table looked quite appetizing and several other items on the menu interested me (varied range of original paltes outside the pub far usual range). Just don’t pick the specials of the day. The beers were of varying quality, but some of them were excellent. I’ll come back once every couple of years, but if I lived in NH, I’d come by from time to time to try their new offerings. | | MartinT (348), Montreal, Quebec | | December 19, 2007 [ Updated June 30, 2009 ] This classy restaurant also has a bar section if you do not feel like getting a dining room experience. The food I’ve had here over a few visits (crab cake salad, jambalaya, sweet potato wedges) was always good and the beer selection was definitely interesting with Smoked Porter, Scotch Ale, Winter Warmer, 2 different Brown Ales (one on cask), etc. The standout though for me still is their McGann’s London Ale, a beautifully-rounded and balanced bitter golden ale that truly showcased this brewer’s potential prowess. I will surely keep coming back through here and would recommend it for those beer lovers looking for a brewpub restaurant to which you can bring your significant other. The sweets shop at the entrance is sure to please their desserty needs too. | | fbennett (23), Lowell, Massachusetts | | January 23, 2006 This was my second visit to this establishment, very good in terms of price and food value. Martha’s was very nice, clean, and the staff was very friendly. The cool thing is that on the weekends it is a non smoking establishment which let my wife and I enjoy our drinks and food with our daughter and no smoke which was top-notch. The place wasn’t crowded at all for a friday night and we were seated right away. The service was very friendly and the selection of food and beer was even better, that night the India Head Red was in the cask which was the first I tried that night. Overall we had 1 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 3 beers, 1 wine, growler of beer, for $70 including tip great experience and very much recommended.
