June 24, 2009 I used to live at this place. Prices: rock bottom. Beer slection: best in the area hands down. 2 massive fridges filled with single bottles. They even have a beer club! Food is also fantastic. Servers: college girls! I’m an RU allum.... RU’s best! |

February 17, 2009 For the College part of New Brunswick, this is one of the better places to go if you want a good selection of beer, good food, and your not-so-typical crowded bar atmosphere. They usually always have great beers on top and if they don’t they have enough different bottled beers! Recommended.. |

February 11, 2009 Best Stromboli Period! Good bottle selection for just about any style you want - owner is a beer geek, I just wished the tap selection reached a bit deeper than the 2 or 3 beyond the macros. Honestly, I’ve been going here since the early 80’s (back when Mario Batali was getting his start as a cook there) but only during recent trips do I consider it as beer place.
SYF is worth braving the college crowd and the crazy parking/traffic on Easton Ave for the boli’s.
The beer bar choices are limited in this town, try Stage Left, (a much fancier place) for a small, but good Belgian tap selection or Daryl’s, a wine bar with 4-5 not-the-usual taps.

December 23, 2007 Nice selection of bottled beer. Drafts were not that great. Had mostly German beers on tap along with Victory, Sam Adams and Ramstein. Good vibe. Wish they would update their TV’s. Bartender was very good. This is a college hang out but I went near Christmas so the kids were not around. It was actually an older crowd. EXCELLANT BOLI’s. A must get. |

October 17, 2007 Nice colleg-ey vibe with a solid beer selection of micros from mostly US brewers. Terrific beer garden and evidently the place is known (and named) for its strombolis. |

December 3, 2005 Typical sports bar ambience, with student and local clientele. Taps are all majors, but they have an acceptable selection of micros in the bottle. For example, Ayinger Dopplebock, Victory Hop Devil, Dogfishhead, etc. I got excellent service at the bar, and I highly recommend the strombolis if you are getting food. I will definitely go back if I am in the area again |

June 5, 2005 This is where I learned about good beer. During my breaks from working at Easton Ave apartments, I would walk over and sample a beer. A good selection for a college town bar. Taps are mainly macro, but their bottle selection is impressive and rotates.
The food, especially the bolis and the nachos, potachos, chicken fingers, ecstasy fries and other snacks are some of the best food out there. Great place to sit around, share food and drink.
Great staff as well.
This is the one place I will truly miss as I leave Rutgers. |
