| HoppyHippie (10), Somerville, New Jersey | | September 21, 2009 good food, selection and service | | CUJO (19), Brooklyn, New York | | June 24, 2009 Not a great place for beers at all. The bar is cheap, no question... you can great drink specials, house shots, etc... but beers? Not sure why this place is on here.... | kevinthesipper (2), Matawan, New Jersey does not count - explanation | | November 16, 2006 my hang out for when i want to be close to RU but not remember the easton ave bars | | tsarman (23), Northern, New Jersey | | July 22, 2004 [ Updated May 26, 2005 ] Overpriced and bad service. I?ve been there twice, and both times the waiter was very rude. The food is pretty good for the style, but the service is not worth it. Especially at prices that are at least 50% higher than they should be.
Beer is good tho. | | Grandpa (12), Verona, New York | | July 1, 2004 Nice place to stop for a beer. They don’t make their own but have a large selection of mini brews on tap. The bar is set off from the dining room so action in one area is oblivious to patrons in the other. The bartender knew his beers and allowed small samples as we talked about the merits and quality of his selection. A bar patron, who joined into our conversations was enjoying a tempting plate of groceries. looked good to me. | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | April 19, 2004 This bar is located in a nice little college-type town. It is also near Old Man Rafferty’s and Harvest Moon so you could have quite a beer night out if you wanted. Parking is limited to very few street spots and a parking garage if you want to spend a couple bucks to save yourself the trouble of driving around looking for a place. On a side note, I missed Neilson Street and went up Albany/Raritan a few miles and ended up in some kind of barrio.
The bar is kind of secluded down a few stairs from the main dining area. It also provides easy access to the patio. The bar itself is very small, and there appear to be a few regulars who were having a good time. They have a decent selection of draught beers, including Magic Hat, Yard’s, DFH, Victory, Brooklyn & Heavyweight. Frankly the only beers in bottles worth mentioning are Sam Smith, DFH and Corsendonk.
The bartender was very friendly and seemed to be up on the beers they offered.
I didn’t try the food but it appeared to be a Louisiana/Cajun theme. | | YogiBeera (109), Hamburg, Germany | | February 3, 2004 My favorite pub in New Jersey. Weekly changing tap list with some very good beers on tap. A good selection of bottled beers. Great life music gigs, very good cajun food and in summertime really nice on the outer terrace. Bar is smokey but....I have to admit I am a smoker and therefore it is my little beer and smoke island in New Jersey. | | MaiBockAddict (76), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey | | January 19, 2004 Cozy little bar in the back. Many taps, but mainly common beers, with a handful of scarcities thrown in for good measure. Food can be pricey, and somewhat exotic, but good. |
