| kseecs16 (93), Westmont, Illinois | | August 13, 2008 Cool old building super high roof in bar area, brick nice wood square bar, cask ale on offer. Offer a little single malt selection as well. Copper brewing equipment in center of dining area, cozy feeling place. Single server at bar seemed a little overwhelmed at 1 20 on a Tuesday. Menu had some good looking items, I chose the grilled shrimp BLT. Pretty solid, nice lemon butter, shrimp need more grilled flavor. Sweet potato fries with roasted jalapenos and grilled onion were great.

Great look for a brew pub, but unfortunately the help left something to be desired. Ah well, excellent beer makes up for it. | hunter112 (7), Nanuet, New York does not count | | April 13, 2008 Truly one of the great beer places on the east coast. The brick building is the first sign that you’re going to find something classically great here, the menu has great choices (don’t you dare miss the beer-battered onion rings!) and the service is top notch. Our waitress, Nicole, kept the beer coming, and got the food to the table nice and hot. The beers taste great, and the ambiance is stunning. Real wood tables, great decor, and don’t miss the train circling around the place! Looking forward to my next visit! | rman18 (9), South Amboy, New Jersey does not count | | February 1, 2008 [ Updated May 3, 2008 ] Good food, good beer, good service! I like this place because they have normal food and not $50 steaks. | NJJereme (5), Saint Petersburg, Florida does not count | | December 21, 2007 Very conveniently located to the train station. Ambience was a combination of a brewpub and a sports bar. Staff was friendly and the customers were laid back. Plays classic rock. namelyl Hendrix. If you want an unpretentious, chill atmosphere, this is the place to go. | | hophead75 (78), Boonton, New Jersey | | November 4, 2007 a really nice building- brick on both the outside and inside. Beer selection was not too exciting when I was there, and the quality was average for a brewpub. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to stop in again when they have one of their WHALES beers on. Staff was rather unattentive at first but got better during my visit. | | Rastacouere (408), Montréal, Quebec | | October 9, 2007 A fantastic building with a strong train station historical background that is used to make the place quite charming inside. A small electric train circulates all over the building, at what must be a 15-foot height. If you want to eat, the menu offers an above average selection for a pub, at reasonable prices. Solidly brewed beers, authentic examples of their respective styles and all wearing a healthy foam, in good conditions, but the basic beers are not overly exciting. Try to come when interesting seasonals are on or you may be disappointed. We were not at the bar, but the service was satisfying, if not impressive nor particularly enthusiast about the beers. A great place to visit once, but I doubt I’d want to come back unless a special beer is on. | | sheatripper (13), Brooklyn, New York | | August 5, 2007 I discovered this brewpub (probably like many others), by passing by on the left side of the train to the Jersey shore. Right next to RR station (bonus). Met up with some local friends. Brewmaster August gave a brief tour for us (thanks!). Very nice brick interior with a lot of open and bright space, with the fermenting tanks in the middle of the room. I loved the little train running around the ceiling! Food is decent pub fare which is very nicely priced (compared to NYC). Beers available seemed pretty much "by the book" in terms of style and quality, but still fairly good overall. Worth a trip if you’re in the area. | | HoppityHop (28), | | July 18, 2007 Good food at fair prices. Selection of beer was good, as well. They had six on tap when I was there. Tried the Garden State IPA which was worth having a second pint of. Service was excellent. Our waitress (and hostess) trekked up and down flights of steps all night long just making sure we were being well taken care of. Ambiance is cool.........a big old brick building that used to be a coal yard, with a deck that overlooks the North Jersey Coast NJ Transit commuter line. Enjoyable place. Not really sure why this place has gotten a few bad reviews? | polskikrol (1), does not count | | August 14, 2006 3. You cant drink your growler at the table... yes, this may be illegal, but we got yelled at only when the owner stopped by... now... problem is, waitress knew we had growlers, she got them for us! But, she said it was OK to drink it as she also gave us an empty pint glass so we didnt have to drink straight from the growler.
4. If service is horrible and you dont tip the waiter... he will run after you in the nearby quickcheck and demand a tip... I am not making this up... this really happened.
5. Owner argued with me that the reason why he does #2 listed above... that is.. why he lies is that otherwise he would not be in business. Hmmm, GreenRock in Hoboken has $1 pints for 3 hours... 5 - 8PM every day, even Friday, and they dont go out of business... while paying Hoboken rent!!!
So yea, if you know of a better brew pub in your area... DO NOT GO HERE!!!
