Visited 5 August 2008 (Tuesday) at 1PM. 30 barrel brewing system. Excellent service at the bar. French onion soup was good (but onions not carmelized enough). Beers were above average, with the Pale Ale and the Wheat standing out at very good. BEERS (sampler of 6-3 oz beers for $12). See www.BuildABeer.org for detailed beer ratings.

Don’t know why I held off rating this place for so long - the recent Manhattan cask fest held here bumps the rating up a bit - it’s in a neighborhood that lacks a lot of charm - parking is a bitch (but there is a lot nearby where you can park for about 20 bucks for 5 hours, which is a steal in Manhattan - yes, it is on the waterfront, but it faces New Jersey, folks - do you like looking at giant cargo freighters and cranes? - lets face it, waterfront property in Manhattan ain’t exactly scenic - the space inside is small, but fairly roomy for brewpub standards - the food is decent (you can get much better stuff a short walk from here, but you can say that about almost any place in NY) - they make some decent beer, but you can find most of it at any beer bar in the city, so making the trek here is hardly worth it - honestly, were it not for the cask fest, I probably wouldn’t ever come back to this place - thus ends my ambivalent and uninformative review.

Fun place in the summertime most of all because it’s right on the water. I enjoy a lot of the seasonals they have on tap and the staff is eager to please and very friendly. The food is usually very good. Not the closest or easiest place to get to, crossing the west side highway and all but it is worth the trip if you are visiting NYC.

The patio must be the nicest feature of the place where you have a nice view over the Hudson and a small marina on the piers. The look of the place can also be called impressive. The 6 draught beers were sent from huge 2000 liter tanks. I hope their turnover is good. The beers felt rather generic on that day, but their seasonals were very dull style and I’d check the menu before coming to make sure there is something special on. A small walk from the Blind Tiger where you’ll likely find good and varied beers with more ease. Next time I’m in the area, I would not make it a point to come back as I must say it does not feel particularly comfortable. The crowd is varied, but several parties of loud youngsters loaded with perfume were hanging out asking for cocktails (saturday around 7pm). Service was rather cold, expeditive and not very smiling.

A great location with an outdoor deck overlooking the Hudson. A nince offering of beers and a dectn better than pub grub menu. Service seemed spotty biut a good experience otherwise.

A large bar at an attractive location and view of the piers. Lit and dark areas. Crowd is yuppy. Servers were competent but I would not call friendly, with people stopping in for their lager or other thin beer and vamoosing. Good covered parking, you can also walk it, and easy to drive to down the West Side highway.Beers are so-so. Always seven hour on tap. Why the main beer bars in New York carry one or two of their beers, maybe the IPA was OK and would be better on cask, I think is maybe they get them cheap and want to be homeboys.

Stopped in here a while back during a trip to New York City...Lunch time, place was pretty dead. Location is great, sitting right on the pier, the beer was okay, we brought back a growler of the Pale Ale and it was okay. Service was great as we sat at the bar. Food was average pub fare.

Great location, must cost a fortune to rent there. Food was also fantastic. Beer was pretty bad, with one of the most boring lineups i’ve ever seen. On top of that, our waitress was a bitch, even though there were only 10 people in the pub total. Would not return.
