| CUJO (19), Brooklyn, New York | | October 13, 2009 The fact that I didn’t even know there was an active brewery on the island doesn’t say much for the publicity on this place. Showed up via the Chelsea Cask Festival and was pleasantly suprised. The place is very clean and has a rather nice display of their operations. Massive ceiling to floor windows overlook the Hudson, and there’s a small patio outside as well... perfect venue for boozing! The event was well organized and the staff was friendly, not necessarily knowledgeable though. Others in my group had some bar food which they claim was great. | | Pwn3d (39), Manhattan, New York | | October 11, 2009 I always went elsewhere in search of beer.. mostly bc it’s horrible rating on RB. But, when I heard Chelsea Brewing Co was hosting an all weekend Cask Ale Festival (40+ casks).. I couldn’t think of a better chase to check out the digs! Surprised is an understatement.. Large, clean, definitely a place that makes you want to throw a few down. There is a sick waterfront patio with ample benches and tables available. I can’t comment on the selection, because I was there for the festival.. though I’ve had there beers before and they range from OK to very good. Nachos rocked. Staff was excellent and prices were nice. | | jredmond (37), New Jersey | | October 11, 2009 Got to visit this place at the Cask Ale Festival 10.09.09. The brewpub boasts a wonderful atmosphere inside with multiple levels of seating area and large brewing equipment behind the bar. Nice lighting, friendly staff. The outside area is great too, located on pier 59. | | Radek Kliber (26), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario | | July 22, 2009 Nice location by Hudson River. Relaxing ambiance. Average service with average at ebst beer knowledge. Good selection of Chelsea brews. Food was just average. | | mouse725 (14), Albany, New York | | April 5, 2009 A must-visit if you are in the pier area of NYC. Saturday afternoon bartender is wonderful, though I can’t recall his name at the moment... Michelle? I recall it being an atypical name for a male. Anyway, Black Hole Stout is great, Blueberry Wheat is refreshing, every their Cherry Wheat was good, and I tend to avoid those like the plague! Food has always looked good, atmosphere is very nice as it is right on the pier and has a beautiful view... of Jersey. lol. | | ben4321 (44), Rockville, Maryland | | March 9, 2009 Visited Sept ’08 and I liked it. Nice brew pub with some solid beers, and a great view off the Chelsea Pier. I liked their beers enough I would go back and see what new offering they were sporting, especially in warmer weather. | | hophead75 (83), Boonton, New Jersey | | February 11, 2009 Went to Chelsea for the Homebrew Alley competition on a Sunday afternoon. Nice waterfront location with convenient (and reasonably priced) parking. Atmosphere is skewed to the modern side for a brewpub, with two levels, exposed industrial ceiling. Two levels, with the brewery shown off through tall glass walls. Food and beer were both somewhat pricey, but not too bad considering you are paying Manhattan prices. Seven beers on tap, with the Blackhole Stout and IPA being the two standouts on my visit. Service was a bit slow, but it seemed like they were understaffed. I’d go back if there is another event prompting me to do so. | | tgncc (25), Bellmore, New York | | December 7, 2008 Attractive place in an attractive setting It was cool to see the signature tanks of one of the few remaining real brew pubs The beers made here are mostly good ones. Ive had them before when they are sold offsite The service was good, the bill was a little high I liked it here but I wont be a regular | | PilsnerPeter (95), Flushing, New York | | September 29, 2008 Has a great ambiance overlooking the Hudson River. Very high ceilings and plenty of sunlight. All of Chelsea’s offerings are mediocre, however I tend to enjoy their IPA products. A great place to visit for scenic aesthetics, especially non-NYers. | | swoopjones (115), Buffalo, New York | | August 29, 2008 Nice place right on Pier 59. Menu looked good. Beer selection appeared limited to the draft on hand. Hop angel IPA & black Hole XXX stout were top notch. Brewer was very friendly & even is a BIlls fan. Stop down if in NYC |
