October 24, 2009 I snuck into this place when I was 17 and was stupid enough to not know the significance of McSorley’s. I asked what kind of beer they had and the stern Irish bartender barked "Light and Dark". Two beers. Dark is pretty good. And you better keep drinking when its busy or they’ll ask you to leave. Or they’ll just ask you to leave because they want to. Thats how it goes. The most old school bar I’ve experienced. It gets pretty wild with some douchey people but if you get a table at the right time of day its great fun. Lots of history and nostalgia on the walls. Just a great place to go at least to say you’ve been there. |

June 18, 2009 Your beer choice is light or dark, and that’s it. I actually enjoyed the dark; not loved, but enjoyed. The light beer sucked. You go here with a group to enjoy the time warp feel. You need to get there early and get a table. It’s pretty cool if you’re with the right group, having a few laughs, when your bartender comes with his hands loaded with 10 little mugs he clanks onto the table. Without 3-4 friends and a table, I’d go somewhere else. |

May 9, 2009 I’ve had multiple sessions here. Stick with the "dark". Drink at the bar if possible. Beer is always two-for-one. Not the same beer as the crappy bottled beer by the same name. The frat crowd can ruin it for me, but most visits have been great fun. |

April 9, 2009 I finally stopped in here after walking by it for about the twentieth time. I honestly don’t get the hype. It’s old, sure, and kind of cool in a crappy old dive bar kind of way. The two house beer are pretty shitty, but you knew that anyway. The day we popped in on a cold rainy day the little coal-fired pot stove in the middle was pretty fantastic, but there’s nothing here for the beer fan. |

March 25, 2009 Let’s do one of two things. Either shut the place down, or sell the place to some people who give a crap. I don’t know about the glory days of this dingy dump, but both times that I’ve visited have come in the last five years and both visits have yielded similar results: crappy beer, crappy rude wanna be western saloon type service, and an atmosphere slighty less charming than a frat house gang bang. Do your self a favor, unless the place is empty (and it’s never empty), look at the place through the windows and say you’ve seen it. The place chews rocks. |

March 22, 2009 Nice little old pub in NYC. I believe it to be the oldest. sat next to the fire place which was a God send on the cold damp day I visited. I had the dark, was tasty and did the job. |

September 28, 2008 I like this place, a lot! Not the best beers in the world, but certainly a great place for session drinking and good company. Burgers are the best in New York |

August 27, 2008 Fantastic history here. Loud, plenty of dust and sawdust. Drunk NYU kids were a common sight when I was there. Barkeep was suprisingly attentive, never had to wait for a beer even though it was shoulder-to-shoulder. I’d go back for the fun atmosphere, not so much the beer. |

August 17, 2008 Great drinking spot. I usually order myself two beers at a time, but here I dont have to. Nice old school irish pub atmosphere with an old timey feel. There is sawdust on the floor, it smells like the basements of my old favorite college drinking houses and they only serve two beers. Pretty sweet. |
