September 8, 2008 Toured brewery as part of brews cruise. Nice tour plus lots of samples made this a very cool stop. Only downer was they were not selling merchandise, so I couldn’t get a shirt. |

February 4, 2008 Toured the brewery as part of Brews Cruise... they loaded us down with samples. Had generous servings of all the basics, plus they opened up a couple of bombers of Cold Mountain they found in the freezer. Relatively commercial brewery, but if you know their story it’s interesting all the same. |

January 23, 2008 Visited the brewery when it was still downtown below Barley’s. Andy gave me and my buddy Pat a sick little tour with plenty of samples including a bomber of Tasgall he opened towards the end. Everyone there was incredibly friendly (as most in Asheville are). Good times. |

September 24, 2007 Visited the brewery for the Imperial Kashmir release. Big warehouse type place, but very clean and organized. The staff there was very friendly and made the release very painless and quick. They answered everyone’s questions and gave out free samples while waiting in line. They were also giving out free tours for those who were interested. Seems to be a well-run establishment that make some tasty beers. |

July 16, 2007 the new brewery is big clean, and neat to see, not much ambiance becasue it is a big warehouse brewery, selection is samples of their beer while you do a tour, brewers usual do the tour, so very informative.... |

June 13, 2006 I went here long before I even knew this was listed as a place. Oscar is really friendly and does a good job of explaining all of their brewing process, even down to the labels. Then he gave me about 3 full pints of 3 different beers (this was before the ABV law changed so I had oatmeal porter, gaelic ale, and kashmir IPA). Afterwards I just went upstairs to Barleys taproom and drank some more Highlands on tap. Great little brewery, and they are moving to a larger one to help spread their beer farther out. |

June 3, 2006 This is a really laid back bunch of folks. I happened to be walking by one afternoon and was able to hop in on a tour with two other guys. I think they gave us 3 pints of beer all told. GAVE. For FREE. You can’t beat that with a stick. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. I hear their location is changing to out East somewhere tho. |

January 21, 2006 [ Updated August 1, 2007 ] This is just a little operation in the basement of some building. They used to have a brewpub years ago, but it’s long since gone. We chatted it up with one of the brewers and he offered us some fresh brews on tap and straight out of the walk-in cooler. The tour was thorough without being painstaking, and the staff was extremely, extremely friendly. I’m a big fan of Highland I feel even more fondly of this brewery now that I’ve visited.
The new location is a giant warehouse. I stood in line in it to get some imperial Gaelic ale. Not much to say about it. |
