| wcampbell (10), Central, South Carolina | | June 15, 2009 Not too impressive. Really weak sampler with only five very dull subpar beers. Didn’t get a pint of anything because nothing stood out. Didn’t see any high gravity beers listed or anything out of the ordinary. Not the best menu, certainly nothing unique. Shrimp and grits were pretty good though. Small portions for a brew pub. Good prices. | | Marinesuds (13), Hawaii | | February 22, 2009 Beautiful old historic Wilmington, NC building just down the road from where Gen Longstreet headquartered in the last days of the civil war. The beer could be better. It is good, but the pale ales really didn’t wow me, and weren’t very crisp. Wait staff is very nice, and helpful. | | DrBayern (39), Morehead City, North Carolina | | August 24, 2008 Had lunch here on 089/23/08. Nice surroundings in a restored old building in historic downtown Wilmington. Attractive bar and furnishings in a comfortable atmosphere. Service was quite good with a smiling, polite hostess, and an attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient waiter. I had a couple of beers, the IPA and an hefeweizen, both of which were pretty good. Typical pub fare with some local seafood specialties thrown in, and the meal I had as well as the meals of the others who were with me were well prepared and tasty. They also had a sampler of 5 5oz. beers of your choice for about $5.95 as I recall, quite a good deal. All of the beers are their own, no guest taps, but I think that’s perfectly OK, and their beers are good, based on the two that I had. I would recommend stopping in if your visiting. | | roder60 (31), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | August 16, 2008 Real nice brewpub located right in the main waterfront area of wilmington, 1 block from the water. Nice long bar and lots of tables. Service prompt and friendly. Had a 5 beer sampler where you got 5 oz of 5 beers of your choice. One of my biggest pet peeves at other places is when you get the sampler and its 5 that they pick - of course its always pale ale, amber, hefe, lager, ect. This one let you pick 5 from everything they had on tap, which I think was like 9 or 10 beers, including high gravity ones. Beers were overall very good - not watery at all. Had an appetizer which was cooked very quick and tasted delicious. Went with my family and everyone enjoyed it. Best place in wilmington by far. | asharp7 (4), patney, England does not count - explanation | | July 11, 2008 good food , good beer selection. has a crowded bar like atmos with a restaurant area upstairs out the way. recommended if you get to wilmington. | | nearbeer (100), Knoxville, Tennessee | | August 24, 2007 [ Updated July 28, 2008 ] Nice historic downtown brewpub setting with 9 on-site-crafted brews available. Something for everyone, and the six I sampled were all good examples of their styles. Food and service are also good. The sub-minimum wage waitstaff can even tell you about the beers, which is refreshing, even for a brewpub. Slightly small might get crowded at times. | | tronraner (100), Seymour, Tennessee | | July 31, 2007 Wide variety of interesting brews were on tap, ten in all. The atmosphere is slightly more bar-like than restaurant-like, which is how I prefer it. I really wasn’t expecting much from this place going in, but I was pleasantly surprised. The beers are of respectable quality, indeed. I only ate a snack, so I can’t comment on the food. | | elmatador00 (22), j-action-ville, North Carolina | | April 30, 2007 Located downtown Wilmington on the Cape Fear river. Has a nice decor inside. Service is very knowledgable of different brews. Has nice selection of food. They have lunch and dinner menus. I stayed around for lunch. Kevin the brewmaster seems has Wilmington and the sorounding areas monopolized with this brewery. He also loves the hops, so beware if your not a hop head. | molassesfan (9), Raleigh, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | March 23, 2007 [ Updated June 25, 2008 ] Food is very good, although portions could be slightly larger. Lots of decent beers but the scottish ale is AMAZING. Waitstaff is friendly, but could know more about the beer. Luckily the brewmaster was there and came by for a nice discussion. | | ross (42), weddington, South Carolina | | October 24, 2006 New brewer rocks, and so does the food. Good IPA, stout, scotch ale, and I got the cajun shrimp wrap (great shit!). Staff was friendly and knowledgable about the beer. Some of the waitresses were really hot, so thats a huge +. nice place, ill come back whenever im in the area. |
