7 reviews for 6th and Vine
| Butters (150), Virginia | | May 21, 2009 Wow. This place is really cool. Love the urban eclectic vibe. And the backyard garden area is very enjoyable. Service was a bit on the slow side, even though it was not that busy, but I didn’t mind that. Very cute wine menues. The beer list is not all that extensive, but the prices are very reasonable - only $3.75 for a bottle of 90 minute! The food was very good, and had a mediterranian flare. The entrees were pricy, but the wraps, salads, and flats were under $10. A terrific place to go eat and drink on a fun date, but not really to rate. | | adavis234 (10), Columbia, South Carolina | | January 22, 2009 I gave this bar a 7 on selection because, although it does not have a wide selection of beers, it does have some great wines (at the same time, this is not ratewine.com so I didn’t feel it was appropriate to give a higher score than that). The ambiance is good with a nice mix of young professionals, college students and older folks. Live music adds to the atmosphere and there a nice outdoor seating area in back. Can be a bit crowded. | | KUEric (79), Chevy Chase, Maryland | | October 2, 2008 Didn’t even look at the beer list. The wine list was solid, the food was very good, the service was great.
The bar was packed. A grad school type of crowd if you asked me, had some artsy feel - of course its Winston Salem.
I liked it. I’ll definitely be back to check out the beer list and enjoy the food an atmosphere. | | Veeve (22), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | June 14, 2008 This is my favorite bar in Winston. Good funky bands Thurs-Saturday, nice knowledgeable staff though they are often SLOW. It takes a long time to get more drinks unfortunately. Some nights is either a really young crowd and other nights a really old crowd, so thats something to consider. It doesn’t have the greatest selection of beer though. some interesitng ones in bottles and what you would expect locally on tap. but its a really really nice place to grab a bite, have a drink and take a date or catch up with a friend. | | freekyp (28), Thomasville, North Carolina | | September 10, 2006 [ Updated December 22, 2006 ] Catering to the upper middle class crowd, 6th and Vine is primarily a wine bar with a nice beer list including a few Belgians and local brews. Hoegarten was on tap the last time I went, as well as Salem Gold from the nearby Foothills brewery (worth a visit as well). Their appetizers and snacks are the real draw here (try the hummus platter). Comfy couches are available for long conversational sessions. | | Zeswaft (102), Seattle, Washington | | May 25, 2006 Really interesting and hip place to hang out. Too bad I only discovered it the weekend of my graduation. The tap list is pretty small and weak. The bottle list has some decent beers and for a decent price. I bought some Weihenstephaner and Bigfoots there. the outside garden area in the back is really neat but cramped. Service was quite bad for a catered event of ~40 people. | | Scubatrip (27), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | March 1, 2006 This place is usually referred to as "the wine bar." The ambiance is more of an upscale, jazz and wine scene, located near the arts district. They have a large selection of wines and a pretty knowledgable staff. I haven’t had any of the food, but I haven’t heard any complaints either. There are a couple TVs usually tuned to whatever game is on, and there is live music almost every night. The bar itself is about 30 feet long, and there’s another utility bar out back on the patio for busy summer nights.
This has got to be one of the only bars in Winston-Salem that doesn’t serve Bud or Miller, but they do have a couple semi-macros like Corona. I didn’t notice the beer list until recently, and I have to say I’m impressed. While there are only 6 taps, there are about 50 bottled selections including a few Flying Dogs, Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn, Abita, and others, and some higher alcohols, like a Chimay lambic or two. I’m really going to have to start going here more often. |
