| Beershine (75), Miami Beach, Florida | | September 27, 2008 Very nice, albeit dark brewpub. Extra high ceilings. Lots of wood. Excellent music selection that night, hope that’s always the case. Back door opens onto what must be one of the coolest hangouts I’ve ever been to: Tom’s Little Havana. | | Spab (11), Toronto, Ontario | | August 13, 2008 Nice spot in old building with high ceilings an big windows. Beer selection is good and though not immediately apparent from the menus, a taster tray is available with all the beers on tap. Food was above average and fair range of choices. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re in Halifax. | tomthompson89 (4), Toronto, Ontario does not count | | December 24, 2007 Went with John from Churchkey and my lovely wife. had a wonderful time, Very freindly staff, good little spot. Nice live music the night i was there. Good beer made on premis, Very cool spot. | | Geth_in_beer (40), Nova Scotia | | October 8, 2007 I wouldn’t have noticed this bar if it was’nt for the distinct flag/sign outside. Seems to share the building with the Bank of Montreal and a coffee shop. Not the best looking place. Once inside it is roomy and has decent size bar, a great area to sit and stare out of the window and watch the goings on on Spring Garden. The beer selection is good. All shown on the board above the bar and beer menu’s on the tables. I only tried the IPA but will definitely be trying the others, it was a breath of fresh air to have a beer that pleased my taste buds. | | EKGoldings (12), Radford, Virginia | | September 26, 2007 I worked across the street at TUNS when this place opened. Pretty good beers, great location, good food (luves me the fish n’ chips). I always stop for a visit while in Halifax. | | mabel (71), Toronto, Ontario | | July 6, 2007 Visited last September, this dark little pub overlooking a busy street had very local flavour and a good feel to it. Brews were excellent and came in a sampler (six of their own were available, all fairly solid). The wraps and salads were tasty along with other good things on the menu, and the service was friendly and laid-back. Would definitely return if in the area again. | jimsteele (5), Oswego, New York does not count | | June 5, 2007 Best of the several bars I visited in Halifax. Beers are house-brewed, and the IPA was outstanding. Nice, clean interior, and attentive service. I didn’t order food (full stomach), but the menu was enticing, a lot more eclectic than the usual pub fare (although the nachos seem to draw the most praise). They even have a weekend brunch. | | muzzlehatch (255), Burlington, Vermont | | May 23, 2007 Not a bad place, and very different in ambience from every other bar/restaurant I visited in the Atlantic provinces on my admittedly short trip -- very new and modern, somewhat "hip" Euro-look which seemed to fit the swarming street below. Food was fairly basic pub stuff, nothing wrong with it but nothing memorable, and the beer was all fairly mediocre though largely unflawed. I’m sure I’d visit again if in town, as there are so few options, but Granite’s beers were definitely better. | | porterhouse (35), Alna, Maine | | May 19, 2007 Decent. Was there on a Sat. night, reasonably busy. Seafood chowder was quite good. Beers were pretty good - I believe there were 7 on tap but none of their "big" beers. Pretty friendly, service a little spotty but OK. Servers knew only a little about the beer but you gotta love the slogan on the T-shirt: "Just Try the Damn Beer." | Mandrake (7), Antigonish, Nova Scotia does not count | | February 13, 2007 Nice spot, tall ceilings and lots of windows on one side, and a slightly more sheltered experience at the bar. Great food, especially the chowder and wraps, though even the fries are well made. Service can be iffy at times, and they don’t always know much about the beer. Speaking of which, some very good offerings here. Hard to go wrong unless you order the Razz, and I think that their IPA, especially when dry-hopped and unfiltered, is one of the best in the region. | View Page : 1 2
