RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Casa Nueva certainly has to be one of the more unique places offering a solid beer selection. It's a cooperatively owned & staffed Mexican cafe in the crunchy college town of Athens which just happens to have a great rotating beer selection. 8 taps are all Ohio micros; 50 or more bottles change regularly and offer lots of great choices; few or no macros. The food is all homemade, including several types and heat grades of salsas, and is very vegetarian friendly.

jmikolich | Been here lots of times since beginning my degree @ Ohio U. Usually a cover charge of 4 dollars at the door, keeps me away, the beer selection isnt bad, they usually have an Ohio type selection, either GLBC or Marietta or the Athens Local Jackie-O’s/O’Hooley’s
Not bad and prices are fair.. very eclectic and dubbed The Hippie hangout of athens

dkoonce | Been to Casa dozens of times sine I moved here in 93. This is a worker owned cooperative Mexican/central American cuisine restaurant. In the past, the workers traded off and they would say your server today may be the chef tomorrow. So, service is spotty. Also, they share tips evenly; meaning that incentive is down for outstanding service.
Lot’s of vegetarian offerings and one of the few places in southeast Ohio you can get spicy food that makes you sweat. One day the veggie special was Blackened Cajun Tofu.
As to the beer, they’ve enlarged over the years and have the Casa Cantina, with quite a few beers. I can often find a beer I haven’t had before. And, they usually have some local tap-only beers from Marietta Brewing Company or Jackie O’s.
