| notalush (159), Denver, Colorado | | February 22, 2008 Stopped in here after I got off the rapid from the airport, and boy did I need a beer - I walked in and felt kind of under-dressed, as this seems to be a pseudo-upscale steak house catering to the local business folks - everything inside seems to hearken back to the bygone days in Cleveland’s history, with roaring twenties decor, and bartenders wearing crisp white shirts and fitted vests - the servers were quite helpful - it was fairly busy, and there was only one bartender, but he was quite attentive - I tried the pilsner, since it won a medal at GABF, but I was not terribly impressed by it, but it was decent - the crowd was mostly middle-aged blue collar folks, so it really wasn’t my thing, but it seems like a nice place for dinner. | | Tmoney99 (255), Cincinnati, Ohio | | September 21, 2007 Nice remodeled building in warehouse district. Clean wooden older building with bar on left and tables on the right for food and beverages. Six standard and one seasonal on tap. All were solid drinkable brews. Freindly bartender with good knowledge. Did eat a burger and the menu of starters, salads, sandwiches, pastas and dinner entrees looked very good. Good location that had a good crowd for weekend football and baseball games. I will stop again. | | crizay (105), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio | | May 10, 2007 Very nice place right on the street, nice wood decor inside everywhere with lots of seatings, bar is mid-sized, and a small patio in front outside is nice for the summer. Beers were all solid and there is always seasonals, staff was very nice. I see the complaints on food prices and it is pretty pricey but I did go for happy hour and all appetizers were half off, about 25 mussels for $5, spinach artichoke dip $4.25, and beers were $3 for 24oz, not only did I have a feast of food but a huge beer to go with it, sat on the patio and had a great view of downtown. I’ll be back again but it will be during happy hour. | | Aurelius (89), Tallahassee, Florida | | May 25, 2006 Very clean pub. Food was good. Enjoyed the glass chilling plate at the bar. Decent brews, didn’t look at the bottle list. An easy walk from DT Cleveland. Prices were good. | | kujo9 (31), North Ridgeville, Ohio | | January 31, 2005 Lots of nostalgia in this brewery. Old pictures of Clevaland’s histroy adorn the walls which are red brick and dark wood. "Old fashioned" wooden Venetian blinds cover the windows, and there’s a lot of wood work in this place from tables, to window sills. Very clean place. Beers are average with about 6 on tap. 5 main brews, and 1 seasonal which rotates every few months. Food is well above average and ranges from pricey (30.00+ for a dinner to about 8.00 for a sandwich). Beers are not too badly priced, especially during happy hour, and the service was fantastic while we were there. | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | January 26, 2004 [ Updated January 28, 2004 ] Located in the Warehouse District of dowtown Cleveland, the Cleveland Chophouse is within walking distance of many attractions. Parking is either a pay lot of metered on the street.
The interior is kind of art-deco, with a very muted dark maroon atmosphere. There is a lot of wood and plush seating.
As for the brews, they have a selection of about 5-6, with a seasonal that rotates. I really liked the American Pale Ale. They have a sampler available as well.
We were there on a weeknight so they were not too busy, and the service was good.
This may not have been the best steak I ever had, but it was the best one in recent memory. The portion was huge, although some of it was fat. Still, the taste was superb. Overall, if you want a great steak and a good ale to go with it, check this place out. |
