sja14 (3), Ohio does not count | | July 3, 2008 Great Belgian beer market. I can’t believe this place wasn’t listed on Ratebeer yet. They have about 10 Belgians on tap at all times (including DT, Chimay White, Hoegaarden, Gulden Draak) and about 8 rotating taps including a Stout of the Week. Nice ambiance, a trendy little hipster bar with a great beer selection and, from what I’ve heard, great food (especially pizza which is rated as one of cleveland’s best). | | Sammy (206), Toronto, Ontario | | January 15, 2008 A nice restaurant and bar complex. A nice bottled selection however everything is available at any good store. Friendly staff. | | dankman38 (12), Somewhere in, Ohio | | August 8, 2007 If there was not the lous music and the "beautiful people" feel for the place I’d give a higher review (I like the crappy music at a little bit of a lower volume). They have a really good selection of Belgian beer on tap that changes pretty often and the service is pretty good I just try to avoid spots like this on the weekends. | natronbomb8 (2), Wooster, Ohio does not count | | April 27, 2007 A very dark laid back bar without the 22 year-old, bullett-proof, Bud Light drinkers. This is a great place to go to get away and have a wonderful draft. The ambiance is very nice and modern, and has a calming effect. The beers on draft are excellent, including; Delirium Tremens, Gulden Draak, St. Bernardis Abt 12 and many outstanding others. Just around the corner from The Great Lakes Brewing Company, this is worth the walk, even in the bitter Cleveland winter. | | crizay (103), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio | | March 25, 2007 [ Updated December 24, 2007 ] Typical downtown type of place, dark inside with black and red everywhere looking classy. The place was packed on a Saturday night but still easy enough to get a beer. Lineup was very solid I would say more than 15 for sure probably 20-25, didn’t see the bottles since the draught’s were impressive enough, St. B, Kwak, Gulden Draak, Brooklyn, Magic Hat and so on. Prices were a little on the high side but you get what you pay for. I’ll be back to this place for sure and would recommend it to anyone to go before or after Great Lakes. And now they have food, awesome pizza’s, a few appetizers and a couple on entrees, all really nice stuff and the pizza was great. | | sliffy (86), Columbus, Ohio | | February 1, 2007 Stopped in before heading to Great Lakes last night. Very dark inside, virtually empty when I got there, but they had just opened. The draft selection was pretty solid, St. B’s, and a bunch of others. I thought prices were pretty good, though their sampler was a bit pricey. Service was great, but there were only 7 people in there. Bottle list was nothing special for Ohio, but solid none the less. Didn’t try and food. But it’s definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. | | MikeF (69), Cleveland, Ohio | | December 7, 2006 This place is bigger than you might expect. Typical big city bar feel. decent belgian selection. not many of the ecentric belgians when I went, but they had just opened. Around the corner from Great Lakes. worth a stop after dinner at great lakes. | | f351c4v (49), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | August 20, 2006 Stopped here before visiting Great Lakes, I happened to find metered parking right outside the door! Large, dark, and empty area awaits you as you walk in the door. Bar is located through a set of glass doors. Atmosphere is dark, lighting is almost non-existant. The bar area was loud for a Saturday afternoon. About 8 Belgians on draught, St. Bernardus 12, La Chouffe, etc., along with some other imports (Warsteiner), and a few micros (Dogfish). Bottle selection was decent, Rochefort 6/8/10, and Orval were the highlights. Pricing was acceptable, to PA standards, maybe a bit high for OH. Service was fast, but not personable. A nice stop, but not a destination. | | kujo9 (30), North Ridgeville, Ohio | | July 28, 2006 Kind of a neat place, fairly crowded for 7:30 PM on a Thursday making it fairly loud. My first experience here is neither good nor bad, it was just okay. After perusing the beer menu, it is not really any more expensive than say a Winking Lizard as far as a beer bar is concerned. They are priced evenly or maybe slightly below some of the bottle selections I’ve seen @ the Lizards around town. Their tap selection was okay (I had a St. Bernardus Abt 12), but they did have a lot of non Belgian beers available. Most of their bottles were Belgians, but they did also have Heineken, Mich Ultra, etc... A bit dark in there, a lot of space, not a whole lot of tables, just a lot of open space in the middle to wander around. Supposedly they will soon be opening a Cambodian/Thai restaurant called Phnom Phen, but didn’t really read the sign closely to find out when for sure. The service was okay, I sat at the bar so I have no idea how the other servers are. I’d go back, but I wouldn’t make it an absolute stop unless you have some time to kill after leaving Great Lakes Brewing or the West Side Market. | | RagallachMC (30), Cleveland, Ohio | | June 7, 2006 [ Updated October 7, 2006 ] I’ve had a chance to visit McNulty’s several times and this review is my overview of all those visits. The space itself is nice, but lacking a bit. Kind of just a big space with very little character. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night when the place is busy, expect poor service. They’re just overwhelmed. If you go when they’re less busy I’ve found service to be good and the staff knowledgeable about what they’re serving. The reason I keep going is their selection. A good selection of Belgian brews . I’ll agree that they’re a bit expensive, but there aren’t very many places in town offering what they are? They do offer a small food menu, and although it’s good, it’s mostly just snack stuff. If they open a restaurant (which the staff says they are doing) it would benefit them greatly.
Overall, they have a good selection of Belgian brews, a reasonably knowledgeable staff, and a good crowd. A fun place to go and drink some great beers. | View Page : 1 2
