Old Bag Of Nails Pub (Delaware)

Kind of a cross between Cheers and a sports bar. Friendly staff and clientele, dark lighting and lots of wood. Decent selection with some Great Lakes, Rogue, Sierra Nevada, and the usual suspects. Burning River was nice on tap. The food’s above average pub food, enjoyable while watching some hoops on the tube. Worth a visit if you’re in town.

(Visited 12/2005): This is one of the newest Old Bag of Nails locations, situated in downtown Delaware on Sandusky Street. There is usually street parking close by, and they have a small lot in the rear but make sure to pay attention to the signage. The interior is probably the biggest of all the locations. Part of the charm of the one in Worthington is how tiny and pubby it is. This is more of a restaurant feel, with the bar front and center with seating all around it, and another separate dining area to the rear. The space is big and open with TVs and some breweriana. The beer selection seems a little more macro oriented than the other locations too. Among the taps, Rogue Dead Guy is really the only standout. The bottled selection is decent with a lot of emphasis on UK imports. Service is pretty good, it was pretty slow on a Sunday afternoon and the bartender waited our table and was attentive and made recommendations. When asked why one item on the menu at other locations was not there he explained how they were phasing in more and more after their opening several months ago. The food here is stellar as always, assuming you like Fish & Chips as much as I do. All in all this may be the only beer spot in Delaware with microbrews, and despite not having the cozy pub feel of other locations it is worth trying out.
