BlackDonald | Been here several times now, but this was much more pleasant at least as far as the beers, they have really improved. The only part that irritated me about this particular visit, was a bunch of travelling cyclists at least 30 of them crowded into the bar, but not all at once, and proceeded to commence drinking heavily and would cheer loudly everytime one would enter the premises. After about the 4th time, it was somewhat less than enjoyable. However the food was just alright, and the two seasonals I tried were quite tasty. Does not open until 4 though, so we had to wait about half an hour in a town with absolutely NOTHING to do. Cool Apache helicopter as you roll off the freeway in front of the VFW building.

JMFG | I worked in Baker City for 3 weeks in 2007, and frequented this place. First off, it does not look like a Perkins inside - just looks like a typical non-threatening sports-bar/eatery. After 7-8 meals, the only thing worth having more than once was the Kobe Beef Burger.
The staff was a little knowledgeable, but probably not up to beer geek standards. The beer, however, is damn good. The Tank Slapper holds up to any DIPA in the PNW, and the Turmoil kicks serious ass. I talked to the owner, Tyler, for around a half-hour my last night there, and found him to be an exceedingly agreeable and generous man, willing to discuss his brews and business. But yeah, people, this is Baker, OK? Don’t anything but espresso before 4 PM. Worth a drive, IMHO.

mistersinalin | This place has a bit of clash in it. The ambiance is like a Perkins on the inside and a parking lot for a patio. The servers are not shy about talking about the patio patrons if you happen to be at the bar. Don’t even think about seating yourself or you will get corrected. The beers they brew are quite good. I usually get the IPA, and then a growler to take home. Rumor has it that they bought an Organoleptic Hops Transducer that they run their IPA through. Seems to be working because the beer tastes great. And although the staff has its own character, it all works. I have and will go back.

pinkzambia | I liked this place. It has a small town atmosphere with good brews. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The food was pretty good. I had the BBQ Chix sandwich and my wife had the Salmon salad. Very good. I did notice about halfway in to our time there that the noise was all people noise -- there was no music! But the staff seemed fairly knowledgeable about the beers. I didn’t get the impression that harlequinn got when he went. Perhaps, there is some tension between the Western and Eastern Oregonians that we Idahoans don’t deal with :)..
The beer sampler was only $4 which included 8 samples. They ran out of sampler glasses so two of mine were in regular pints and I received more than 2 oz.! I think it is well worth your time to stop in. I will next time I am passing through. I do agree with Buck Dich that the hours are kind of odd.

harlequinn | This is one place that I will probaly not return to. The beers leave alot to be desired, and the staffwas like what? Who are you? You are not a local, what are you doing here? Had a decent pale ale, not really worth stopping for.

BückDich | Opens at FOUR FRICKIN’ PM!!! I drove 2 hours to go here and got here at Noon on a sunday. I had to piss away 4 hours in Baker City, OR, no easy task! I ended up going to the Oregon Trail Visitor Center, a movie, a coffee shop/internet cafe, several souvanier shops, AND drove up to sumpter to see the dredge/train thing and drink a Bush NA in the town grocery market. Anyways, inside it’s a normally decored small town restaurant. Average food. Large sampler of beers, some good, some bad. Nice people. If it’s open and you’re hungry and you’re on your way by Baker City, worth it, if not, don’t do it.
