25 reviews for Rogue Ales Brewery/ Brewer’s on the Bay
ultracake (3), salem, Oregon does not count - explanation | | September 30, 2009 Went on the tour, pretty basic saw the bottling some yellow snow, the food is very good, prices kind of high, 6 bucks for four tasters didnt seem bad plus you could sample anything they had on tap which was quite a bit. Service isnt bad just they tend to get real busy. They have a store where you can pick up 22 oz for 6 bucks which isnt a good price. BUT if you ever see the garage sale sign you have to go i picked up so much good beer for cheap plus lots of samples. 22 oz for 2 bucks, 22 ceramics for 4, 24 case of dead guy for 25 bucks. | | CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | June 3, 2009 This place was alright. Went to the bar on a Friday afternoon and was treated curtly and promptly ignored for quite a while. I didn’t think the prices were all that great. This place ended up feeling more like a tourist trap than a place that really honors beer. | | Beardface (35), Eugene, Oregon | | May 11, 2009 Love the exterior look of this place, and the fact that you have to walk through the brewery to get into the restaurant. The smell of yeast, hops and barley permeates the restaurant itself, which I love but I have seen turn a lot of patrons off. The food is quite tasty, though overpriced and there is usually at least one beer I’ve never had, though that’s getting more rare with each visit. Their periodic garage sales are amazing, and a great value. The service has been quite good outside of one visit which I don’t like to talk about. Good place. | | Dansting (114), Overland Park, Kansas | | August 3, 2008 Visited on a Saturday for a tour and then came back for dinner later. The tour was one of the biggest letdowns I have had at a brewery tour. The tour guide was pretty annoying for the most part. She was similar to the ones that I’ve encountered at Miller and Budweiser, as her comments seemed forced and stale. And at the end of the tour, they didn’t offer samples which was a first for me. Afterwards, we ate at the restaurant and had samples at the bar. The selection was great as they had pretty much every Rogue beer available, some which I’d never had before. The bar service was pretty fun, as the bartender had a good personality and was joking with us. The place itself wasn’t as cool looking as I figured it would be, but it wasn’t horrible. Glad I went to there, but I wouldn’t go back there unless I was already in the Newport area. | | Ungstrup (245), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | July 5, 2008 What a weird place. We had a very informative tour, but I was very surpriced to see the place with mold growing on the old fermenting vessel (they were in the process of putting of new brewing equipment when I was there), and the whole building reminded me of something in the wild west. Looking at the brewery I’m surpriced how good beers Rogue puts on the street. After a visit to the destillery we ended up in the tap room, with many different beer on tap, though only 3 new for me. The food was solid, but a little boring. I find the marketing department has just a bit too much power at Rogue - but it is ofcourse a way to survive. | | Rogueone (21), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio | | April 21, 2008 Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Newport. I mean, why else would a beer geek be in Newport anyway, right? Dining area was just sort of open with tables thrown in a room, but the saving grace is that you’re right on the bay and so the view is breathtaking. Full selection of many Rogue beers while I was there. The bartender sort of talked down to me a bit about the beers, which I found a bit distasteful but I got over it. Food was better than average. Really enjoyed the bar area, very cozy. Also visited the distillery located across the bay, which I would recommend. | Scoutman (5), does not count - explanation | | October 5, 2007 Cool place, great views, excellent beers. Service is dependent on who your bartender is. Some of the gals are less than steller, but the guy with the pony tail kicks ass. My only real complaint was with the lack of brewing knowledge on the part of most of the tour guides. Again though, if your lucky enough to get the pony tailed guy, your in luck. | | BuckeyeBoy (57), Boise, Idaho | | October 8, 2006 A pretty cool place down on the bay. Good food to go with the great beer. You have to have some of the nutbrown beer bread very good. | Haack (1), Hornslet, Denmark does not count - explanation | | September 22, 2006 LONG LIVE THE ROGUE NATION! I want to move to Oregon. I loved Oregon. I am a Dane but this is the closest to Denmark I can come in the US. Little store to buy beer in the bottle just before you walk up to the resturant. Amazing hospitality. The Public House in Newport on the other side of the bay as well. I was here with a really good friend. Hope to visit Paradise again soon. | | mikebeertaster (23), vancouver, Washington | | September 8, 2006 I was a little disappointed with my visit here. I have been several times to the Rogue Ale house across the bay and I guess I was expecting more. We were there during the day, during the week and it was dead. No problem with that except we tried to sit at the window seats for the view of the bay the problem was one of the employees said we couldn’t because they save them for people who are eating, not just drinking. Hello? there was no one else there. It wasn’t like they had one window seat. After letting the employee know we were really disappointed the woman reluctantly gave in and then provided some terrible service. Nice. |
