22 reviews for Amnesia Brewing
| BrewDad (239), Olympia, Washington | | September 16, 2009 Here I sit in Old Portland neighborhood drinking a great beer in a place that if not for the sign I would have never stopped. Finally after a few years of trying I had the time to stop at Amnesia brewing great brews, service and food. I liked the atmosphere and the brews where so sound and high caliber this was a true Portland Craft brewer. The food I found odd to be cooked in an outdoor setting under a semi permanent tent but all in all it was very good. This is not for the kids this is for the true craft beer seeker. There will be no wimpy pale ales here there all have hops and then more hops. I recommended this place for the hard core beer geek. | | pdxlover (10), Washington | | August 8, 2009 First of all, I love this place in the summer - basically an urban beer garden, with the intoxicating smell of grilling sausages. I always love the Desolation & Copacetic IPAs, the porter & pale are also usually on (and pretty good). Great location to combine on a pub crawl w/ Widmer & Fifth Quadrant (a New Old Lompoc pub). Service is basically walk up to the bar, which is fine but can be really slow. If you want anything other than the really good locally made sausages, a burger or pretzels you are pretty much out of luck (there’s pretty good food at Widmer), but for a relaxed, fun atmosphere with really good beers, this is a great neighborhood place. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 9, 2009 Relatively small place that must be very tight in the winter, but more than doubles its space with the summer terrace. Oldish mid forest shack, mid garage atmosphere. Then, it becomes a locals hangout, relatively hip, yet neighborhood feeling. Disappointing beer list which contained only 5 beers when we visited, but the Copacetic IPA was more than satisfying. Good prices, friendly staff behind the bar. Certainly not a must in Portland, but not too far from downtown. If you’re on a Portland beer run, I’d come here if you have 4 days+. | | JoeTheYounger (20), California | | July 9, 2009 Went to this place while up in Washington. It was recommended to me by the guy that works at "By The Bottle". Very cool guy that recommended some cool stuff. This place was really cool. Good atmosphere, people outside sitting at picnic style tables, barbecues going, music playing. Pretty good beer too. I really liked their IPA they had and the porter was really good too. The bartender chick was pretty cute and she gave me one free beer. I found it interesting that they did not sell any of their beer bottled. If you wanted beer to go, they served it to you in a 1 liter mason jar. I have never seen that before, pretty cool. | | Beardface (35), Eugene, Oregon | | May 11, 2009 I really liked this place, the building was basically a shack with picnic tables inside and was extremely packed when we visited. The service was very prompt, and it probably helped that one of my friends knew one of the bartenders. The beers were so-so outside of the Copacetic IPA, which was delicious. Our group of four made fast friends with some ex-pats and had a fantastic conversation with them for about 45 minutes. Very laid back vibe, I’d go back anytime. | | leems (27), Portland, Oregon | | May 9, 2009 This place is on Mississippi Street so you know it is a very hipster location. The beer is delicious, the service is friendly but you must order at the bar. The food is simple, mostly sausage, but goes great with a beer or three. Amnesia can get quite packed so going on an off night/hour or a nice day when you can sit outside is best. | | troopie (40), | | March 7, 2009 Cold draughty warehouse of a room. I cannot understand the fashion for turning such into eating and drinking places. Order at the bar and service is quick and friendly. Food menu lifited, but very well prepared and they make their own wors. Prices very reasonable. Go on a warm sunny day. | | slimchill (57), Austin, Texas | | November 1, 2008 Very cozy, good service. Eclectic crowd and steady grilling that smelled great (with vegan options!). Good beer, nice environment. A great neighborhood bar. | | Ungstrup (245), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | July 12, 2008 Our stop here on a brewpub crawl in Portland was poorly planed, since we got here before opening hours, which during weekdays isn’t before 4 PM. But luckily for us they were brewing and I was in a group of brewmasters, so we were let into the brewery and given a brief introduction to the brewery and the opportunity to sample their beers. The brewery is set in a shack, but the brewery itself is iin really good condition. The bar area reminds me of a saloon, lots of wood and picnick tables. I got 5 new ratings here. | | BeerZack (11), Austin, Texas | | March 31, 2008 First impression is this place seems pretty cool, but- going inside the first thing I notice is the odd layout. The order here sign beckons you to squeeze past the people sitting at the picnic table about 2 feet in front of the bar and then again to squeeze past the line of people queued alongside aforementioned picnic table, this time with your sloshing beers. The actual bar service was quick and very adequate. Selection of house beers was good. A couple of IPAs (the Desolation was pretty drinkable) and a really drinkable Pale Ale (Dusty Trail). The porter needed work, very acrid. Overall, a nice place despite the somewhat hipster scene- outdoor area was more laid back than the inside coffee-shop feel. Plus- pretty flowers on table Minus- T-shirts not available in XL. |
