35 reviews for Bridgeport Brewing
| ckstanley (11), Vancouver, Washington | | November 16, 2009 I am usually fairly generous with my reviews, but BridgePort is usually a disappointment to me. Their beers are *okay* but nothing impressive, and my recent visit to this Ale House was nothing if not disappointing.
While the food was great, my order came out wrong, my beer was warm and we waited nearly a half an hour before we even got to order our food. The environment seemed crowded and the server seemed annoyed that we were there.
| | KyotoLefty (132), Kyoto, Japan | | September 12, 2009 Nice place, good beers on tap, though the cask ales were lagging in flavor and there was only one seasonal and no bottles differing from the taps. A good place to stop in Portland, though not one of the best times I had. Would like to try the food--especially the baked goods. | | pdxlover (10), Washington | | August 8, 2009 I always think of Bridgeport as the forgotten brewery in Portland - not as well acclaimed as others & not new/hip like some others. While I kinda miss the old pre-yuppified brewery atomosphere (they pretty much just served pizza you had to walk up to get) rather than the restaurant/brewery/bakery, I can’t argue w/ the service which is always good, as is the food (for pub food). Happy hour food deals are really good. I like their beer a lot - but its definitely not as adventurous as many brewers. The cask conditioned IPA is still outstanding (though much less hoppy than the newer hop bombs), as is the ESB. I often get a sampler b/c I do like to try the wide selection & am a bit surprised at the prior review saying there is a lack of selection: they serve an extra pale ale, a brown, an ipa, an esb, a stout, a porter, an amber, a barley wine + seasonals (they had Hop Czar, the cherry wheat & a blonde on). That’s 11 different beers across the ale spectrum. Almost all are good, everything is pretty easy drinking & satisfying. | darbish (5), Portland, Oregon does not count - explanation | | August 5, 2009 I really like the ambiance of this absolutely gigantic restaurant/brewhouse. It makes me feel like I’m in an abbey or a castle somewhere (that sounds really stupid, I know). But anyway, I come here fairly often and Bridgeport has some of the best service of the places I’ve been in Portland. The food comes quickly, the servers are always asking me and my friends if we need a refill on our drinks, and most of the staff is friendly. My only regrets are that the place is a little expensive during non-happy hour times, so the regular hours food is a little overpriced. However, if you make sure you go during the happy hours the deals are very strong (especially on food). The other disappointment is that Bridgeport’s seasonals are by far their best brews, and their old standbys are tasty and satisfying, but aren’t as good by comparison. | MuluAle (5), , Colorado does not count - explanation | | August 1, 2009 Great open area. Check out the happy hour. Beer is always good. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 9, 2009 Quite a hip, very modern place which must have costed millions. Almost impressive to be in. Settled in a trendy neighborhood, it is easy to get to and close to classics like Rogue or Deschutes. For that reason, it is easy to stop by. The selection is also quite large. While the beers are clean and more than fair, they are not particularly adventurous by Portland’s standards. If not necessarily the kind of place I like to go out to, Portlanders are relaxed enough that no one feels out of place. We’ve just eaten small appetizers and they were good. The prices on food and beers is also quite salivating during happy hour so that might be a good time to visit as it lacks the tavern feel of the top places in town. | | wilsomb (29), State College, Pennsylvania | | June 25, 2009 Cool feel, but a bit trendy for me. I prefer a more "I brewed this in my garage"-feel. Anyway, I was told I have to come here by 4 or 5 native Portlanders. And I was not disappointed! The beer is great, selection sucks, but the beer is great. The food is also quite nice. I recommend coming during happy hour to save a little money. | rthbass (6), Vancouver, Washington does not count - explanation | | September 13, 2008 Very cool hang with the upstairs lounge and cool bars. Always has great food and great beer. Nice open feeling. | | phishpond417 (51), Madison, Wisconsin | | September 10, 2008 What a great big modern building this brewery is located in, its huge with a second floor and a nice bar up there as well. Big glass elevator. Very spacious and inviting with a cool deli inside. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the beer is mighty tasty. What a great place to go to in your tour of micros in Portland. | | BiddleBrau (33), Midland Park, New Jersey | | August 21, 2008 I love the feel of this place, at least the first time I was there. Upgraded since I was last here 12 years ago. Old building feel is lost with newer shinier fixtures and bar.
