| Jsawyer (21), Glenside, Pennsylvania | | October 12, 2009 Definitely has the colonial aesthetic; lots of wood and not exactly what you’d call spacious not that that was a problem. Good beer, obviously popular with regulars, a good layout. Wish I had tried the food but I then again that’s an excuse to go back. | | Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | August 28, 2009 The bar is a dark Irish-like pub. Another section is a rather nice space reserved for the restaurant. An overall classy look. When I was there they had more than 10 beers on tap including 2 casks. They also had a separate list for vintage 22oz bottles Ɩ of them) for about $18 each. I stuck to the taps. I enjoyed many of the beers there, I even scored a 4.0. Many adventurous beers that go outside the beaten path of Stout/IPA/Pils/etc. We had a quick lunch meal, affordable, good quality, but small portions. I cannot comment about the dinner menu but given my lunch meal I can only assume that the dinner menu kicks ass. Really worth a detour. | | AguynamedTodd (17), Indiana | | April 16, 2009 Not too difficult a place to find but it’s not my cup of tea, so to speak. | | BiddleBrau (32), Midland Park, New Jersey | | February 8, 2009 A great building. It had been years since I had been here but it’s still about the same. Casual and with a very authentic old historic feel. Wish I lived closer, I’d make this a regular place to go. Always a number of pretty good brews on tap and the food is better than decent. | | Nate (194), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | January 5, 2009 Didn’t eat here, but sat for a while and tried some samples. The ambiance is completely terrific and you feel like you’re sitting in an old pub from the 1700s (as I would imagine and without TVs). Anyway, the service was good and the beers were solid. I’d like to stay here some time and be able to crawl up to a room when I was done drinking. Worth a stop if you’re in the area. | | santos999 (15), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | October 4, 2008 This place is awesome. The building itself is gorgeous and very well decorated. The feel inside in fantastic. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the beer and food. The selection of beers was impressive, with American, British, German, and Belgian styles all represented. The food was bomb, in particular the roasted beet salad. Price was really good said and done. I can’t wait to get back to this joint. | | FanwickMike (33), | | September 26, 2008 beer tour, 09/26/08. Nice old building. Sat at the pub and ordered the beer sampler for myself, tea for wife. Sampler consisted of 4 beers, my choice. I chose the Framboise, Germantown Blonde, Abbey Brune and the Porter. I particularly liked the Framboise, and all the beers were solid. Food was also good, I had meat loaf, my wife had a club sandwich, with actual sliced turkey on it, not the lunchmeat that so many places slap on bread. An interesting place, and well worth the stop. | | illinismitty (224), Nashville, Tennessee | | May 27, 2008 This is a basement bar, with a historic ambiance with modern accents. The bar area is split, with a non-smoking area and the smoking/live music area. Both areas are fairly small but cozy. They do offer a reasonably priced four beer sampler and around 10 beers to choose from, ranging from American to Belgian styles. The beers were decent and enjoyable, but not mind-blowing by any stretch. The bartender did his job, but was not very outgoing. The food looks good, but the menu may be a tad pricey for some. This is worth a visit, even if it’s just for the ambiance. Just be prepared to pay a small cover for the live music. | | jason (43), Easton, Pennsylvania | | April 8, 2008 Where else can you go to a historic pub that is also haunted. Food is decent and reasonably priced. Beer was very good with a sampler running you $6. | | jeremytoni (53), Swedesboro, New Jersey | | March 31, 2008 Nice place good beer, service, and selection. Started charging $10 after we arrived so our friends didn’t show, but other then that a decent place for a beer. |
