This place is awesome. The building itself is gorgeous and very well decorated. The feel inside in fantastic. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the beer and food. The selection of beers was impressive, with American, British, German, and Belgian styles all represented. The food was bomb, in particular the roasted beet salad. Price was really good said and done. I can’t wait to get back to this joint.

beer tour, 09/26/08. Nice old building. Sat at the pub and ordered the beer sampler for myself, tea for wife. Sampler consisted of 4 beers, my choice. I chose the Framboise, Germantown Blonde, Abbey Brune and the Porter. I particularly liked the Framboise, and all the beers were solid. Food was also good, I had meat loaf, my wife had a club sandwich, with actual sliced turkey on it, not the lunchmeat that so many places slap on bread. An interesting place, and well worth the stop.

This is a basement bar, with a historic ambiance with modern accents. The bar area is split, with a non-smoking area and the smoking/live music area. Both areas are fairly small but cozy. They do offer a reasonably priced four beer sampler and around 10 beers to choose from, ranging from American to Belgian styles. The beers were decent and enjoyable, but not mind-blowing by any stretch. The bartender did his job, but was not very outgoing. The food looks good, but the menu may be a tad pricey for some. This is worth a visit, even if it’s just for the ambiance. Just be prepared to pay a small cover for the live music.

Where else can you go to a historic pub that is also haunted. Food is decent and reasonably priced. Beer was very good with a sampler running you $6.

Nice place good beer, service, and selection. Started charging $10 after we arrived so our friends didn’t show, but other then that a decent place for a beer.

This place has been around forever! Standard pub food but pretty good overall. It has a nice inn feeling to it and a hotel out back if you drink too much. The selection is above average and everything is solid. I would make the trip if I were you.

If you like that old rustic authentic feel then this is the place to try. Was there on a Monday afternoon and the bar had about six regulars sitting around having a pint and some lunch. Bartender was not only friendly and helpful but not to bad to look at either, if your into that whole young attractive blond thing. The menu had some interesiting choices on it but of course I settled for the good old standby, medium rare cheeseburger that was a good size on a nice fresh sesame seed roll that hit the spot. The beer choices were about eight or nine deep with a nice selection including an Impy Stout, Framboise, Red Ale, Pale Ale and quite a few others. Only big disappointment was the bartender was going to sell us some vintage bottle sot go but the owner wouldn’t let her since they are for "pn premise" consumption only. I would still return despite that minor set back.

Great brewery with tons of history, great beer and food. There is always a wide selection of beer which can hang with the best of them. Staff is knowledgeble. The whole menu is delicious and you can take home a growler to enjoy.

Now this is a place with some authenticity, except for the AC, I feel like I’ve just jumped down from my horse, after a hard days travelling along Germantown Pike, now ready to rest. I feel I’m in the early 19th century with wooden cealing and huge fireplaces, and only dimly lit. And this is a good place to rest, first You get a very tasty meal at a very resonable price, then You sample all the beers, 9 on tap/cask and 5 vintage bottles, ranging from boring to outstanding. And then You can retreat to the inn in the back yard - again it reminds me of being a traveller of the 19th century. The inn is a bit pricy, but included in the price are complementary soda, juice, bagels, coffee etc. and a huge living room, kitchen and dining room as a shared facility of the 5 rooms - I really felt at home and could stay for awhile. So if You visit the place, then do stay the night, then You can also sample all the strong vintage bottles without having to think about driving afterwards. The service in the restaurant and the bar was very friendly, it is a very nice couple that owns and runs this place. I want to come back.

Historic old building complete with a widow’s walk and hand-hewn beams. Very cool setting for a brewpub. I was told the food was good and while the menu was a bit sparse the food did not dissapoint and was fairly reasonably priced. 4 of us with a sampler, pint and a $15 bomber only set us back a touch of $100 with a 20% tip. We ate in the dining room rather than having pub grub in the bar side- I understand there is a different menu on that side.

At first the service was fairly slow, but our waiter was working five tables. When he finally got some help he was very attentive.

The beer was very good. I had the Scotch Ale and the Imperial Stout....both solid....and also shared the sampler with my wife. It was a great time and I’d love to go back.
