November 13, 2007 [ Updated July 28, 2008 ] The building was the original spot of the Farmers Market before it was moved to 9th St. Entrepreneur Bill Kolovania bought the building, renovated it, moved the Market back, and, in the process, opened Nikos on the third floor. This place is absolutely one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is upscale but informal. It’s not particularly noisy, and it’s designed for socializing. The staff is friendly. They are by no means beer geeks, but they are helpful and will seek out an answer if they do not know it. They do know the food and drink menu relatively well, which is a big plus for me. The food is FANTASTIC. It is definitely priced to be upscale, but it is worth it. They do have pizza and sandwiches if you’re not looking to spend a lot. Brian Matlick is an incredible chef, and a heck of a nice guy. Nikos is not there yet with their beer menu, but Brian is looking to make them the premiere beer bar in the area and he will seek out a beer if you ask for it. While there I had: Boulder Brewing Co. Mojo IPA (on tap), Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale, and Stone Smoked Porter. I expect great things from this new restaurant. The owners go out of their way to be accommodating, and, well, the food really is out of this world. They also do growler fills. I filled a growler with Mojo for $12. |
