| bp (36), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | October 4, 2008 Been here a number of times. Nice little place that gets a bit packed during the dinner hours and then clears out a bit. Very nice bottle selection and some solid drafts are always available. Food is OK. I’ve only had the mussels and they didn’t wow me - they don’t even come with fries, you have to order that separate. Look up toward the ceiling on the left-hand side of the downstairs bar and notice the Westy crate. | GuilTTy (7), Cherry Hill, New Jersey does not count | | September 20, 2008 Small, dark and often crowded but for very good reason. Superb selection of bottled beers from all over the world - not just Belgium. Rare brews from Finland and a very respectable selection of domestic craft brews. Simply an excellent place to enjoy great beer and meet others who appreciate true quality. | | ogglethorp (22), Ohio | | July 10, 2008 Very cool place indeed! Reminds me of Monks, similar in theme obviously, and set up as well, with the whole front bar back bar kinda thing. Great menu of beers. I was there on a Sat night so it was fairly busy, but service didn’t seem to lack terribly! A must stop for sure. | | blipp (18), Grand Island, New York | | June 3, 2008 Went on a Sunday night so it wasn’t that crowded. Selection was incredible, unfortunately they were out of a lot of the more rare stuff when I went. The bartender said it was because they were really bust over the weekend but I figured that was a load of bull. At least she gave us our first round free. Nice little place, and it’s right across the street from Triumph Brewing which is a huge plus. | | FooFaa (25), Lebanon, Pennsylvania | | May 31, 2008 Interesting restaurant/bar in Old City. It was very crowded and noisy, but, surprisingly, we didn’t have to wait long for a table. We ended up being seated upstairs. The three of us shared an appetizer of frietes, which were very tasty. For dinner I had the Brugge chicken sandwich. The service was actually quite good and attentive considering how full it was. Their beer selection is great with a few harder to find Belgian beers. I was in a mood for triples that night so I ended up getting some St. Feuillien, Chimay Cinq Cents, De Dolle Dulle Teve, and a Westmalle. | | theisti (71), Leawood, Kansas | | May 27, 2008 [ Updated August 8, 2008 ] Stopped in for a quick visit during a weekend trip to Philadelphia. Rest of the family was site seeing, so I only had time for one pint and no food. The bar was more or less full at 4PM on a Sunday. I was able to grab a bar stool, and the service quickly brought a Busty Blonde on request. The tap selection and bottle menu at this place are pretty insane. Nothing super rare or exclusive, but pretty much every Belgian in the bottle you would want to try. Tap selection offered nice variety, and a few choice non-Belgians. The vibe here was really relaxed and happy. It was a perfect place for a mid-afternoon pint. Would have loved to spend more time, but alas had no extra time. | | soyorganic (13), Denver, Colorado | | May 20, 2008 Very nice place. Wonderful beer selection. A nice difference from Monk’s is that they take reservations. You can actually get a table on the weekends. However, they have less veggie-options than Monk’s. Service is good. | | tjthresh (47), Greenfield, Indiana | | May 19, 2008 I’m not sure how Eulogy is much different the Monk’s. Both are small. Both have fantastic draft beer. They seemed to have a bigger/better bottle selection. I didn’t try the food, but it didn’t look any different than Monk’s. Service was freindly and attentive. | Pivoyager (8), Gaithersburg, Maryland does not count | | April 21, 2008 As stated below, Eulogy is small and narrow, but it is an exceptional purveyor of Belgians (tap and bottle). Throw in great food and it’s the best thing in Philadelphia without going to Belgium. Attentive service that is way above the rudeness found at Monk’s. | | billk (31), Coeur d’Alene, Idaho | | March 27, 2008 This place is small. Long and narrow with an overflow area and bar upstairs (when it’s open). The tap beer selection is good but not overly special IMO (Monk’s has ’em beat). I only had the frites with the 3 dipping sauces and they were just very good (large) French fries to me. Their Busty Blonde Ale had a chemical perfume essence to it I didn’t care for although it started to open up and show some complexity as I drank it. The Piraat on tap was good though. Was here @ 2 PM Thursday, I wouldn’t want to be here when it’s crowded.
Got to see the upstairs area and it is interesting and quaint. Yes...it’s spendy. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5
