| Adam77 (12), Eastampton, New Jersey | | April 15, 2009 Went here for a beer fest years ago. Nice area outside against the water. Inside is rather big with an upstairs. Some of their stuff isn’t that bad. | | LilBeerDoctor (29), East Setauket, New York | | January 11, 2009 Stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon. This place is not really located in the heart of Philadelphia, it’s in a suburb.
Atmosphere: Pretty chill place. Seemed like more of a restaurant than a brewpub although there were plenty of people at the bar when I was there. Nice and relaxing, quite spacious.
Quality: The beers are, on the whole, decent (I loved the pale ale). Nothing special but not bad either.
Service: The bartender was very friendly and attentive. He gave me a free refill!
Selection: They had 8 beers on tap, so plenty to choose from.
Food: I got the crab dip which was incredibly filling and pretty decent. They had a Sunday brunch going, which we didn’t participate in, but looked scrumptious.
Value: Good value. I don’t remember exactly but I think pints were ~$4-5. Food was slightly overpriced, but nothing crazy.
Overall: A decent stop. If you’ve got the time, I’d check it out though. It’s a pretty chill place. | | Nate (194), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | January 5, 2009 Had lunch here on a Monday. Sat at the bar. Service was good and it’s a neat building inside. The smell of spent grain being shoveled wafted through the place as we sampled a few brews and had a good lunch. The only killer was the absolutely horrendous music selection being played much too loudly. Other than that, cool place in a neat neighborhood. | dagimp (7), Philly, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | January 2, 2009 A good place to have a beer in Manayunk. I have found the service to be adequate but not great and very inconsistent. Same with the beers and same with the food for that matter. I actually had my wedding rehersal dinner here and they did an outstanding job. Great food, great service and good beer. However, the two other times I have been there, the food and beer have been OK at best. The location (next to the river) and the building, especially the deck, are really nice though. Worth a trip if you are in the area but I wouldnt go out of the way though. | | santos999 (15), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | October 13, 2008 Stopped in for lunch today. The building itself is fantastic, with exposed brick walls, cool decorations, nice tables, and great atmosphere. Service was on point. The beer selection was decent, but a bit standard, as well as the food. I like the joint and will be back, but not the best in the city. | | jmm635 (33), Havertown, Pennsylvania | | October 9, 2008 Nice place in downtown Manayunk. In my opinion, the food is better than the beer, though. They have a pretty varied selection of their own brews, but none were really great. Lots of live music and a very lively crowd late nights. | | blipp (21), Newark, New Jersey | | June 3, 2008 [ Updated July 5, 2009 ] About a 5 minute drive from my girlfriend’s house. Eight of their beers on tap plus Amstel and Guinness. Their beers are good enough. Nothing that will blow your mind but worth trying. Very spacious, lot’s of seating, nice decor. I’ll be coming back next time I’m in town for sure. | | cheapdark (65), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania | | November 4, 2007 [ Updated September 22, 2008 ] Easy to find on the beer map. Very nice atmosphere. Took my wife, daughter and a friend to this palce. Nice selection of food but my pizza was just above averge. Had a nice time. You can choose between the noisy area or the quiet. Nice sampling technique, had 8-3 oz samples for $7. In a seedy part of philly, we parked on the side of the street but valet parking is available for $10. I wasn’t able to see the brew tanks as with many brewpubs we’ve been to recently. Reservations reccomended. | cbrixius (9), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | June 7, 2007 I’ll start by saying that this place has a good atmosphere, a wide selection of beers, and decent food. The beers tend to fare on the pretty basic side. On my last visit there was nothing heavier than an APA, which was disappointing. They seem to enjoy adding fruit to any lager they can brew up, and I am sure it is because they believe their target market is the trendy hipsters that frequent Manayunk at any moment.
So, if you are truly a beer geek, head up two blocks to the Flat Rock Saloon, where you can find hundreds of micros in a beer geek type of atmosphere. | | frankenkitty (94), Oak Lawn, Illinois | | April 10, 2007 [ Updated April 11, 2007 ] This is a huge, beautiful joint, dark yet well-lit (?) with tons of brick and stonework of varied colors and textures creating a sprawling cavern of a brewpub with a jazzy feel. Check out the virtual tours on their website to get a fairly accurate portrayal of the surroundings. Nice.
Service was oddly lacking on a not-so-busy afternoon... our bartender was accommodating but our waitress was pouty and the hostess seemed put-off when we asked to purchase growlers and bottles on the way out. Regardless, they did have a nice beer selection on tap of good quality. Their food was decent and fairly priced. Overall, our visit was enjoyable and I would definitely recommend a stop. |
